Alpha Centuri

I just played a few rounds of alpha centuri at a friends house and i love it. it was the first turn based strategy game i had played since civilization came out, and that was only for a few minutes.

when i got home i went to the company's website, and found that civilization III was out so i ordered it. only to find out after i completed the transaction that the game wasn't out yet.

after such a short trial of alpha centuri, i need a Turn based strategy fix, but since i just bought Civilization III i can't afford to buy another one. i was hopeing that someone could tell me where i could get a free version of alpha centuri so i could calm my nerves (it's 3:30 here right now, and every time i close my eyes to sleep, i see pictures of the game in my head.)

there's a budget version called "planetary pack". it contains SMAC and the Alien Crossfire Expansion. around 15-20 $ (i believe)
there's also a 100 turn demo for download at firaxis.

Jewel case version of smac is $10-$14, Planetary pack (almost out of stock everywhaer) is $35 t0 $40.

i have checked the pricelist of my preferred dealer: in germany the planetary pack is 20$, smac alone is 10$.
