  • Tips, Strategies and Tricks when playing Gaian

Okay, I see people are already preparing for the next ACDG (like Spartans for example), so I am starting a thread here where I would like to see tips, strategies and tricks from more experienced players. Our team is reasonably small and has no experienced players whatsoever, so we really need some help for strategy. Anyway you can see our Headquarters in my sig, if by some wonder you wan`t to join. But I would really like some advices on how to play Gaian,e xcept using the early turn advantage.

Start early building formers. Go worm hunting. Train your worms by hunting for more worms. Go, visit the Cathedral of Worms. When using worms for military, go with the landscape. Fungus gives +50% in defense (also for your worms, IIRC), and acts as road. Use your efficiency to boost research (with Green, you don't lose energy when setting research to 80% or 100%)
In fact, Planet rating and Efficiency are the strengths of the faction. Which make Gaians a very strong faction. On huge maps, Gaians are usually the strongest or second strongest AI faction. You can do better.
Why doing it the easy way if it is possible to do it complicated?

I know that, but thanks Adlabertus. But I doubt next ACDG will be played on large map or with lot of fungus.

The best thing you can do is leave your bases completely unguarded.

As gaians, not only build mindworms, but get neural amplifier and dream twister, and they literally kill.

Ok so normally you would beeline to IA as Gaian. But it is also nice if you have Ethical Calculus for Demo to pop boom. If you don't get the trade opportunity, does this mean that you get Demo later than you get Wealth? I guess it wouldn't be such a hurry to pop boom before IA since you won't be able to support the popolation anyway? Also when do you all like to get Biogen for tanks and HGP?

                Actually by eating Fungus....

a viable tactic indeed, it is

No really winning. Rather living up to the impossibly high expectations everyone seems to have for me.

After IA you would be able to crawl the fungus for 2 food to support the population. However before IA it is hard to pop boom to size 5, because it is likely you will have drones if you don't set them to doctor, and if you set them to doctor then you don't have the worker to work the fungus?

All the usual powerful SPs are great, but a couple are particularly useful for the Gaians.

PTS is a killer because you can build size three bases anywhere without worrying about pop loss on account of the fungus.

If you plan on spending much time running Green before switching to creche pop boom Planned the CN will keep your conventional army from being too feeble to be effective.
