Games are played at all levels, from newbie to expert. You can choose a tournament map for a quicker start (not the same as accelerated start, you just get extra pods and units) or a random map for a standard game. The tourny is very informal and a lot of fun - no knock-out and winning or losing is no big deal. Give it a try, you might like it
