True, true. The only units that could possibly be detected would be the SATF units. The NATF cruiser will be at (9,11), 9 squares away from the nearest Morganite air unit, and in fungus to boot. The Laconian TF cruiser will be at (48,20), 8 squares away from the nearest Morganite air unit, and also in fungus. The SATF cruiser will be at (20,28), only four squares away from the nearest Morganite air unit, but at least in fungus. And the IoD will be four or five squares away from the nearest Morganite air unit, depending on where we send it in MY 2198, and also in fungus. Actually, if they detect the IoD, it's not quite as grievious as if they detect the SATF, because two probe teams just looks like we're planning on having some low-level mischief with them, whereas an entire cruiser full of an elite combat force gives an entirely different message to them.

Because all our essential units will be in fungus, the Morganites would have to fly an air unit over one of the exact squares in which our units are stationed. Remember, with the PTS raid, the Morganites had a somewhat greater inkling of what was going on, considering:
    1. We were already in vendetta with them.
    2. We had a few turns previously destroyed one of their boats they sent out in the path of our oncoming cruiser.

The F-8's in transit to Morgania at (46,14) will be six squares away from the nearest Morganite air unit, but just seeing some of our air units seemingly patrolling the ocean won't be enough to tip the Morganites off. Pretty much everything will hinge on the Morganites not detecting the SATF. Because if they do detect it, they can not only begin preparing for the invasion, but they can also sink that cruiser and all of its precious cargo.

Civ IV is digital crack. If you are a college student in the middle of the semester, don't touch it with a 10-foot pole. I'm serious.

It'd cost 90 credits to upgrade the shadowing SCC GeneralTacticus (6-2-6) to an AAA 3-res fusion cruiser (6 <3r> 6 *2) - worthwhile doing so next turn?

Eh, not really. All uprading the GT to plasma AAA would do would be to make it so that Morgan would have to send 4 planes or so against the SATF to sink it, rather than 3 (assuming we send along the Disco Volante to shadow as well). On the other hand, it's possible that the Morganites won't scout that part of the ocean until after they've moved other segments of their airforce (if they scout that part of the ocean at all, of course). Thus, upgrading the GT might mean the difference between the Morganites sending 3 planes against the SATF and not sinking it, and them sending 3 planes against SATF and wiping out our whole southern invasion arm. Then again, we'll need to have some ECs on hand to mind control Choke on This or Morgan Weapons Arm as well. Hmm......tough call.
