  • MY 2168 Planning Thread

For starters a few minor things:

FL: put "stockpile energy" in the build queue.
Move the damaged CDF into FL. Start moving the CDF already in FL to AU to free up the two garrisons there.

Move the IH commando hoplite to the Liberty monolith.

Move the missile artillery in SC1 to the Olympian monolith.

    Rehome FB B-4 in SC3 to SC3.

Oh yeah, there's probably a foreign unit in the encircled area, as it wasn't yet uncovered last year.

A wild idea in case we have needlejets to spare. We could help the Hive capture that Gaian base...

Hey, I wonder if the possibility exists of infiltrating the Data Angels via GeoMatrix?

As for using a needlejet against the Gaians, we have to be aware of the possibility of the Gaians probing back their base from Yang, as well as probing all kinds of other goodies. It would be better if we could count on Yang to protect his new acquisitions with probe defenders, but we can't.
Civ IV is digital crack. If you are a college student in the middle of the semester, don't touch it with a 10-foot pole. I'm serious.

Well, assuming that the IoD doesn't attack and weaken the Disco Volante, I'd be in favor of taking a peek at the base anyway in passing.

But having had probe teams from 2101, I can't believe that the Angels would leave their sea-bases undefended - plus have a ship blocking access to their large lagoon - Seraph's Wing Bay.

they only have a handful of seabases anyway .........

And well defended, I agree. Perhaps they even planned it so that they would be hard to infiltrate. I doubt we can ever make an entrance, except with a large force of Probes.

Well, in an old PBEM I was "had" by Misotu, when I thought I had adequate probe defenders in all my bases

She released 3 mindworms to the wild just beside one of my bases which then proceeded to take out an infantryman defenderand my probeteam, then next turn she wizzed in and got my datafiles

            Sneaky (she was the Gaians)

We are taking about the Angels, though — about the only people still trusting us to some extent in this game. While what you are saying is a good idea for the future, I doubt we can afford to lose whatever credibility we have left. Not just yet.

                Turn's up!!

Some rushes we can/should make this turn:

Fungiformer at Fort Liberty for 26 credits
Fungiformer at Ironholm for 18 credits
Crawler at Rio Grande for 6 credits
Crawler at Santiago Citadel for 12 ec's

Nothing else warrants rushing this turn, unless we need some mop-up credits for instabuilds

Again, to avoid confusion, am I playing this turn? (the last arrangement we had was that Maniac would play on weekends and I'd play midweeks - but given that it is now Monday in Europe, I am assuming I'll proceed?)

                    MY-2168

                    First moves:
                    • put "stockpile energy" in FL’s build queue
                    • SC3’s crawler on the crater forest set to work crawling minerals.
                    • Damaged CDF moved into FL.
                    • Start moving the CDF already in FL to AU to free up the two garrisons there.
                    • IH commando hoplite moved to the Liberty monolith = now Elite.
                    • the missile artillery in SC1 sent to the Olympian monolith – now Elite
                    • FB B-4 in SC3 rehomed to SC3.
                    • Brought the 3 damaged Penetrators on Morgan’s east coast back to Fort Buster’s Aerospace center for Repaits
                    • Argos’ damaged B-4 on Morgan’s west coast brought back to Gagarin Memorial en-route to Fort Soup and repair
                    • Minas Tirith B-4 (running CAP duty) returned to MT the long way round to see if those Hive units have redeployed – they haven’t. And some of their “recalled-to-base” troops have now left the base – I wonder where to?
                    See pic below:

                      some further moves:
                      • AU's crawler and Irobholm's crawler sent to FS to proto unit there, then retired. Changed production to a Tree farm and rushed with 44 credits )next turn we can let FS grow, or reassign a crawler to minerals convoying)
                      • Fungiformer at FL rushed for 26 credits
                      • Fungiformer at Ironholm rushed for 24 credits (it's crawler was deployed to FS, so the rush price increased)
                      • Crawler rushed at Rio Grande for 6 credits
                      • Crawler rushed at Santiago Citadel for 12 credits
                      • 2 Tomcats completed sensor at Minas Tirith turned loose to plant a farm there on that rolling rainy tile
                      • Returned FL's Skanky to the monolith to heal prior to another round of worm-hunting
                      • Sent the Unity Rover at MT up the Rojo and into the fungal wall, but no luck with worms this sortie

Reserves now stand at 180 ec's

Sent the Disco Volante to geomatrix to have a peek - could destroy that probe defender, but we don't need more enemies:

                          MY-2168 further moves:
                          • Messena’s (now) Elite hoplite moved from OA’s monolith north, to join the road back to Messena for garrison duty (pop expands to 3 in 2172
                          • Tomcat-RG moved SW to join the Messena road to the OA monolith road – after completion will join its FB buddy two tiles north for farming there
                          • changed 2NS tomcat orders to roadbuilding, then forest
                          • Iaca’s infantryman meets a spore launcher – captures it!
                          • Moved TH’s worker to the nut special, and the crawler north to convoy minerals
                          • FL’s AA down the road towards the NN at Tegea Harbour
                          • sent FS’s B-4 to destroy the fungal tower at Mendelev College, but the odds were 3:4 against, so headed for Gagarin Memorial suburbs to put on a show for the population there
                          • Took the Njord out of range of Argi’s soon-to-be-commissioned Missile Tactical Noodle, and twinned it with the General Tacticus (Morgan has no ‘Gator Boats but there might be a probe team on a trannie)
                          • ran a 4-tile sortie with the F-6 at GM to see if it had better odds against that fungal tower – 3:3 (actually something like 4.37 to 4.12) so I desisted and returned to base
                          • moved the units heading to MT into base, there to await the arrival of the Cruiser Transport to take them .... where?
                          • put crawlers everywhere in the builds as a holding measure
                          • changed production at SC2 (the other “retire this” design) to a Children’s Crèche for future popbooming

Edit ; later save now appears a few posts below

                              MY-2168 cont …….

                              Some terraforming orders:
                              • Tomcat OA2 (on monolith n ofSC2) moves onto rainy river crater tile nw of SC2 and commences farming
                              • Took Vlad's worker off the 2/1/0 tile onto the 3/0/0 seakelp tile to boost pop growth (no effect on crawler production - still next turn)
                              • Tomcat SCW-2 moves thru FB heading for the airbase build slated for 50:8
                              • Tomcat FB-2 moves towards airbase site stopping at 53:11 – a flat, rainy, crater tile, so whiles away the time by farming there (SCW-2 can assist next turn before they head off for the airbase build, if that is still a priority
                              Additional unit moves – navy
                              • Moved the slow tramp steamer up towards Cape Wrath en-route to our west coast - where Modo had pointed it last turn (but wasn’t it going to be a Homeland-Arcadia ferry?)
                              • Coastguard Cutter Minas Tirith and cuiser trannie into MT – to do what?
                              • Heimdall to the monolith on Gaia’s east coast – disembarked R0112 there to heal – and the Unity rover to stack and avoid probe action (upgraded to Commando in the process)
                              • Moved the Coastguard Cutter Iaci to tagteam with the Heimdall
                              • Moved the Pegasus up towards the Styx channel, and the Invincible to tag team with it
                              • Transport foil (from Vlad – don’t remember its name) up thru the Styx channel

                              Save attached

Let me know if you get a reload message. I started this official turn last evening on my laptop, then saved and this morning copied over the save on my desktop overriding the original turn (which I’d opened last evening for the screenies before I realized I should play the turn) I got a reload warning the first time I opened the overrode save but amn’t getting one any more. Odd that it should give it then retract it
