  • Possible AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH

I may - emphasize may - have left the Morgan trade diplo window open in the final turn that I zipped and sent to the Gaians

The last presend that I posted (in our own private forum turn thread) has the window open with all the trades on offer

I'm usually pretty diligent in closing everything before finalizing, but the fact that the window is open in the internal pre-send save, and the fact that we got somewhat rushed to beat the clock (as we hadn't a reply from Drogue or Method re an extension), and the fact that I can't actually remember doing anything other than opening the presend, clicking "Turn Complete" and then saving as the Gaians makes me think that it might still be open.

No trades can actually be executed, of course, it's just that they'll see what we have that they don't, and the commlinks we have (see pic below)

But it may not be too egregious.

If I'm as good a sleuth as i think I am, then we'll be meeting Morgan this next turn or two - they just have a negotiating advantage in that they know which techs we have that they don't have.

(And they'll be salivating over Gene Splicing - to allay their growth penalty) and panting for the 2 AI commlinks to get their commerce income a boost, so we just need to hold out for a meaningful trade - or deny them anything until they "make an offer we can't refuse")

But the other thing I'm sure of - they'll have full infiltration on us before we get a chance to garrsion Probe defenders in each base. If I were playing Morgan, I'd already have rush-built a probe foil this turn and send it on its way to us looking for a coastal base (which makes me ponder whether a western seaboard coastal base - Messen Bay, or Rio Grande, whatever it's to be called - is the way to go)

Oh well, it's not a complete disaster, not anything we couldn't do some damage control on if needed. Plus, the Morgan turn player might have just quickly closed the window and disregarded it. I would have. Not quite as terrifying as the title lead me to believe

Yeah, it could even work to our advantage. By letting them know we have NLmath, they might be inclined to overbuild their defenses.

And they're probably scratching their heads over whether or not we did this on purpose. This will give them cause for confusion, as to whether maybe we are trying to threaten them by showing our weapons techs, or whether we are trying to entice them to contact us.

LOL - I'd thought of that, too. Them sitting, discussing:

"What does this mean? have they met us? Where? In what force? Are they peaceful and suggesting a slew of trades? Is it all a big mistake?"

We can prolly expect a long delay in getting the turn passed on to us

I wonder if it'll just dawn on anyone that maybe it was an honest mistake

Thank goodness you didn't click "accept" by accident. Yikes.

That reminds me of one of my very first PBEMs

I'd been a fairly aggressive poster from the very beginning of the old OWO forums, but never considered myself a decent enough player to enter PBEMs.

My first was with Misotu, Tau Ceti, and i think Aredhran and ZsoZso

Anyway, Mis was pacted with tau, and sent on Doc Air or MMI to him, but inadvertently sent the tech to me, pre-accepted

So I accepted, then the sh!t hit the fan.

I argued that it was akin to a bumbling diplomat just putting the top secret plans into the wrong diplo pouch, but they were having none of that. Had to go back to Mis's turn and replay it, with the correct destination this time

I've been having a chat with our friendly helper mod Method, and apparently the Morganite turn player is shutting up about the tech list until they find out whether it was a mistake or an attempt at diplomacy. Apparently Method is going to inform them that it was a mistake. So no harm done, really.

"So basically, it's a mistake, ignore it, we all go home."

Confirmed: the Morganites have been informed that the diplomacy window was a mistake, and as such, all information it provided will be disregarded by the turnplayer....or else...

What? I can't believe this is only the first you've heard of it! I threaten people in the rec commons with it on a fairly regular basis.

Okay. This is no where as bad as the title suggests.

I've done that before too, Googlie.

It is partly my fault too. I went over the turn you posted, but did not think to check all the diplo-boxes...

                        Any ways...
Either way, whether the Morganites are aware of it or not (cause I just can't see how Method's threat to their turn player is going to be effictive), we can "spin" it to our advantage. Right Kassi?

Spartans don't believe in the decadent trappings of recreation commons. Those serve for the bloated Morganites.
