  • Hmm - good poimnt. I'll test it in the simulator.

In the meantime, though, I'd plan on getting that longstrider there ASAP to stop Morgan getting techs (I'll also test in the sim whether our probe stops Morgan filching techs from Zak.

(I seem to recall in another game that my having a probe in a pactmate's base didn't stop the enemy from pounding the crap out of that base - it wasn't techsteal, but straighht warfare. The base was captured, and my probe was still sitting there in a streetside cafe having a ***. Next turn I mind controlled the base from under the noses of the faction capturing it)

      • 2154 War Report

Events started badly for the new year as word came that Morgan had declared Vendetta (or had invoked the game bug by making our choice - Vendetta - for us)

The reason? – Morgan mind-controlled a Spartan ship – the SCC Hunter

But meanwhile, there was the war with the University to vigorously prosecute.

A University synthsentinel was spotted in the outskirts of Argos. Our Longstrider paid him a visit and for 33 ec;s he defected to our cause. He entered Argos and took up duties there, freeing Skanky’s Silena to return to Arcadia University for garrisoning there

Colonels Maniac and Googlie, with Lieutenant-Colonel Kassiopeia, formed the was committee and the invasion proceeded.

Spartan Kel was given the honor of moving downriver and launching the attack on Otkrietia-Discovery. The synthmetal defenders were taken out.

Then it was Shinsengumi’s turn. And they prevailed against the remaining defenders.

The honour of taking possession of the base was given to the Chiron Knights

Zak called, and first of all offered a truce, then offered energy credits, but finally surrendered to Major Zeiter.

The Junta then demanded that Zak cede control of another base – Budushni Dvor. Zak complied.

Otkrietia-Discovery was renamed Fort Liberty, and Budushni Dvor was renamed as Tregea

Spartan Kel and Shinsengumi then moved on to Fort Liberty’s monolith to heal and for some R & R. Castor Horsemen moved into FL for temporary garrison duties.

With Tregea came 3 units, and one of them, a commando, injured, was sent to FL’s monolith to heal.

Finally, the longstrider was sent on to Fort Liberty just in case any Morgan probes were on the loose

        • Well done with the invasion, well conducted campaign!

Hmmm.. Why did we force him to give us Budishii Dvor? I thought we were after Monitoring Station or Climactic Research?

          • We couldn't get Monitoring Station from him despite our best efforts (couldn't buy it with energy, baseswap is forbidden and he wouldn't take tech either - extortion did not work as well) - we decided to try to extort it from him at a more suitable date, e.g. by revendetta'ing Zak and then having him resubmit to us. Priority with the declaration of war changed from MonStat to getting our guys to Morganland ASAP.
Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

              • Plus, we rushed the GT at Arcadia university, leaving ten minerals to carry forward. Next turn we'll rush a colony pod (that will also alleviate the hunger problems at that base too) and move it into Maniac's sugegsted site - that will strip MonStat of the 2 boreholes, so maybe we don't even need it transferred to our control

It's a bit of a funny map, though (a bit like the old east and west pakistan before Bangladesh got created) - and it will get worse when Lal plops his colony pod where it's heading - that'll create a PK enclave in Arcadia's northeast corner.

                • Am I being paranoid if I fear for the safety of the GT cruiser btw? Did the Morgans continue with their Gator east to the Arcadia shoreline or was it that Gator which ruthlessly brainwashed the hunter?

                  Comment

                  • That's the one that got the Hunter

The GT cruiser is earmarked for convoy duty with the Mercury - strength in numbers and all that

Of course, Morgan will prolly tag team the Hunter with a 'Gator - thank goodness for the GT's synthmetal armor and higher morale (the Hunter redux was to "Very green" when the brainwashed crew went gaga and got replaced by Morgan rookies)

Northern Arcadia is completely divided between Lal's pactmates the University and us. So will he build a base there? Is it possible that once the CP reaches its location, the AI realizes "F*ck, what am I doing here?" and head all the way back to his territory?

                      • I wonder if you can build a base in a submissive's territory? Lal seemes to be just ignoring Zak's boundaries when he gave his "goto orders" to his colony pods (or maybe he wasa going to turn over control to Zak to help him grow??? Could the AI be that clever?)

                        • Should we sell the Creche at Fort Liberty- it's not needed now and is costing us 1 ec per turn.

Or leave it in place for the popboom that's coming?

I say we sell it for quick cash. We could use it to upgrade a rover to a skirmisher, build or amphibious units, or something There's a war going on dangit, let the children play in the abandoned barracks or something.

Btw should we get together for a live chat in the command center? Seems like a few of us are online.

                            • Every creche is worth gold in my opinion. Even if won't popboom in the next decade due to the war, it'd be inefficient having to rebuild the creche when we are ready. The creche only costs 1 credit per year, it also fights inefficiency - already gaining back its upkeep costs, and we'd only get 25 credits from scrapping it.

                              • Don't sell buildings, unless they are obsolete. Period.
