So we've had - in our first 43 years - 3 pact suggestions:
With the Angels:
Posted on September 20th by Kassiopeia
We have discussed alliance possibilities before, as is apparent in this thread - and I continue to think that the Angels would be a good choice for a pact. Feel free to convince me otherwise though - we can bring it to a poll if need be, but with the current levels of activity a consensus may suffice.Posted onSeptember 20th by maniac
Spartans and Angels could make a great team: imagine us banding together against one of the other teams: they probe rape them and we follow with an invasion.

With this plan in mind, I would favor allying with the Gaians, believe it or not!!! Here are the reasons:
1. The Gaians are now relatively strong. Instead of being a liability as they might have been before, they will now be an asset.
2. They will be one of the weakest militarily. Thus, I'd rather face them for the final conflict than a more competitive military power.
3. The Morganites and Data Angels will have the majority of the SPs, will they not? Thus, I'd like to take them out first before they get too strong.

It's maybe time to sound Morgan out fully on a pact 'till level-8 tech discoveries, shared leapfrog research, agreement as to SP's etc, followed by a "thereafter may the best team win"

We can't make a serious move (on expansion through conquest) in world domination until we can produce missile infantry (6-1-1). These only require two rows of minerals. Through whichever means (command centers, bio-enhancement centers, monoliths, SE decision, monoliths), they should (have to be) elite morale also. Nine attack + 25% against bases, move two. This is pretty wicked and cheap to manufacture combination. Hopefully, we can then also (in the same or next turn) upgrade these to drop units. Suplemented by drop 1-3-1's (give them trance, and/or resonance armor also), and 1-1-1's police units, and drop infantry probes.
All these can be quickly built (even if we're in POWER).
Trick is to have sufficient enough core bases that can produce these guys. Say at least 12 that do only this for several turns. Time to start thinking and planning for the future is now (!!!).
I'm typing quick, cause I have to go somewhere...
Anybody else got a better idea / way of doing these for how the game is developing at the moment? And I don't mean along political lines. A sound strategy of keeping the opposition divided and quarelling amongst themselves is crucial also. This is what it means to be a Spartan. It's not the killing or the suffering that matters. It's the purity of focus, without fear of death or pain.

Churn out Hoplites for garrison duty, and assemble the rovers at VV. Get 2 trannies there. In 2147 sail for University base. In 2149, when we get Doc Init, equip the rovers with impact and amphipods
2150 we've captured University Base and empty trannies are sailing back to VV to board 2 Hoplites and 2 Crypteia for the "we know it's bound to come" attempt by Zak to probe back his HQ (assuming he doesn't immediately surrender to us)
2154 Rovers are all healed, Hoplites and Crypteia are in place in Uni HQ, and rovers move on down the road to the next juicy target.......
Why is that scenario impossible?

I haveta go now.
:quote: Why is that sceanario impossible? :quote:
ItS possibles. Thats fibes. Above me talking about human controolled factions. Projecting power in a big way. making big moves. etc. etc. This is what it means to be a Spartan. It's not the killing or the suffering that matters. It's the purity of focus, without fear of death or pain.

Hey. Pretty good. You should be a school teacher (grin).
This is how I would have typed it having had more time to correct grammar and spelling:
It is possible. Thats fine. Above, I'm talking about human controlled factions. Projecting power in a big way. Being able to make game breaking moves, and so on.This is what it means to be a Spartan. It's not the killing or the suffering that matters. It's the purity of focus, without fear of death or pain.

Given that we now possess Social Psych - and the 3 other teams lack it - and given that current thinking is that the gaians are researching just that, should our diplomatic corps try to get something of value from the Gaians (and the other 2 factions) for Social Psych?
(and as we also have 2 of the follow-ups from Soc Psych - Secrets and Ethical Calculus - is a more complicated trade/sale possibly attainable? - maybe get the G's to change to Doc Loyalty and pass it to us in part payment - would save us from trying to probe Yang)

Just suggest the trades to me and I'll get the discussions going, considering our inherent disadvantage in tech it's only good that we cash in what we can, especially since we haven't had Gov elections yet.Cake and grief counseling will be available at the conclusion of the test. Thank you for helping us help you help us all!

We've got a concrete proposal with the Gaians running. Perhaps we could also let out feelers towards the Morganites and Angels? Something like:
"The Junta is pleased with the current succesful technological cooperation between our factions, as proven by our latest trade. We would therefore like to explore the possibility of deeper cooperation on this field. yadde yadde yadde... We have a large collection of techs, making it likely you are currently researching a tech we have. We were therefore wondering if you would be interesting in the possibility of leapfrogging? etcetera etcetera

Thanks! And good luck with yout novel!
I had the proposal to offer the Gaians that we sell DocMob together to the Angels for a sum of credits, and each get half of the profit. This to prevent we compete each other to death to get at least out of the tech. I haven't heard any comments yet on this proposal though, so I don't know what others think about it.
