  • Game Discussion, Turn 2121 - 2140

ahh should we make a new thread, I can make one I suppose. Being the naval officer, I'm most interested in our ship exploration. But I'm interested in all exploration actually. It's one of my favourite aspects of the game

We could move our ship south next turn, althouh it will probably be a closed bay, and we'd have to move it north again (into fungus), but I am suspecting some hive activity there, and would like to see it . But we could always wait for the rovers to get in that area.

It can be risky moving east into large patches of fungus. Sometimes you hit a isle of the deep, and then try to reatreat back the other way into more fungus and get another IOD. Then you are stuck in the middle and really have no chance of surivival.

The only other choice would be to move NW and then south, which is eventually what I'd like to do.

Further exploration of the two southern rovers is obvious. pop those pods! of course both are on rocky, so the same rover could pop both pods. we can move both Sw next turn into the pod square. And after that have one rover pop the other pod, and one head south then possibly southeast.

and eventually I'd like to explore the other side of the mountains in our territory. Do we have an available rover or do we need them for drone control?

You prolly need a "Naval Command" thread - you'll have a second foil coming off the production lines soon, and will need space to write all your plans and exploits. (I intend to open an "Engineering Corps" thread soon as well)

I'm thinking these forested tiles we see are an extension of our own landmass (Just over the hill to the west of R-112 CRV. If they were Yang's, then by now we'd have met his scout patrols. So I'm thinking it's open water to the south, with our landmass on its east and yang's on its west

The only other choice would be to move NW and then south, which is eventually what I'd like to do.
That works as well (I think the forested tile southwest of Invincible's current position is just a spit of land jutting out from our continent)

I agree. I'd pop that first pod with Chiron Knights (the injured rover) and if a monolith, great. If a goody, great (having first changed production in Gythium Harbour to a Network Node in case we get a completion bonus) and if a baddie, then R-112 CRV is around to take care of it

and eventually I'd like to explore the other side of the mountains in our territory. Do we have an available rover or do we need them for drone control?
That's where Rolling Thunder is headed next turn - up the Eurotas River for 6 tiles to just southwest of the summit of Olympus. From there it'll head east and northeast to meet our eastern shoreline then follow it north

That's the plan I think we've agreed on, anyway.

IIRC all those unexplored sea tiles east of SCC Invincible are coastal. So the rovers, with better psi combat odds, could explore those if you want? Or else the second gun skimship of GH could pass through that area before moving out the Laconian Gulf?

Re: Shinsengumi, do we uncover a couple more black easterly tiles if we return it to SC1 via a zig-zag route? (1 tile southeast then 1 tile southwest into SC1)

When we meet Yang, what will be willing to trade? I say that our map data, doc:mobility, and doc:flex are too valuable to us right now to trade. However, we could trade info networks or centauri ecology. Also, will we try to make a treaty with Yang? I hope so. A treaty never hurts. What if Yang threatens us and demands some tribute? I say we don't give in to anything. What does everyone think?

i agree we need a Naval Cmd Thread, and further that all Div have their own threads (ex Engr Corp) that report to 'Sparta'. i don't like layers of bueracracy, but here's my basis: all Cmd structures have a virtual HQ that decide on a plan of action that by consensus forward to Sparta. the Sparta Cmd thread would then post the recomended 'orders' from the subordinate cmds. i know that this adds another 'Game Discussion', but i believe that we could streamline decisions when the game gets larger by letting the Armored Divs, Fleets, etc previously discussed use their units within established chains of cmd. for ex, real world, aircraft (pick a nation) operate under an ATO (Aircraft Tasking Order) that determines bombing strikes, refueling, recon, etc. the Game Discussion thread should still be used as an open forum, but the new Sparta Cmd thread used as a poll of suggested actions from the sub cmds...

we should of course limit the # of subcmds, but a Diplomatic Corp will be needed for future crushed enemy surender terms, and a Planet Corp of 1 former citizen taken from the deranged work detail that ate a 'tainted' fungal burrito

I agree. Flex is our "ace" right now, so let's hang on to its exclusivity as long as we can (at least until we have the MCC firmly in our sights)

However, we could trade info networks or centauri ecology.
If he lacks them, I agree. he prolly won't trade Doc:Loyalty as he'll claim he doesn't want the Command Nexus to fall into our hands. If he has nothing to trade do we sell them to him? (assuming he doesn't already have them_

              Yes again has my vote

Well, Zak has the military lead, so I imagine he (Zak) has prolly laser weapons - Yang will have more troops, but likely less strong. So he might not try to threaten us. But I'm assuming that first contact will be with Invincible so there's not much he can do to us on the water.

So I agree. If he does try to threaten us, we'll call his bluff.

Concurred. We can always make Yang declare vendetta on us himself, as long as he's not too friendly with us. (Not bloody likely)

Concurred. It'd be an interesting twist if we ended up in a vendetta with him from the get-go though. The risk is there.

(I must add that I think I'll be more savvy with the human factions diplomacy-wise, AIs follow certain paths and our gameplay experts have mastered them better than I have.)

Yang will not trade for CenEco but might take bait for InfoNet (don't know game code probabilities). HIGHLY recommend that any DOC's are off-limits. Weapon paths are ours alone...Yang, as I said before, cranks-out military units, but generally they are inferior. His bluffs are meaningless in the early game. Ergo, the SSC Invincible should continue to scout south and 'map' Yang's territory... Also, suggest CP production asap to S and SE coast (nutrient nuts) as a wall against Yang northern expansion and as a picket for other potential enemies...OK w/CP NW to harvest seamin, and rec that new coast base produce sea units. IMHO, Global Reach w/Air-Missile is best served from Sea Bases.

Captain Zeiter of R-112 CRV and Captain Andemagne of Chiron Knights discuss who will pop the Unity pod.

Cool pic. My crew has beefed up the armor and chassis of the R-112 CRV for increased durability in the rough terrain we've been travelling in recently.

Just in case the Hive would be willing to accept InfoNets or CentEcol in exchange for one of their techs, what techs would we be willing to accept?

If he'll trade it, my preference would be for Doc Loyalty. Or Secrets, if he and Zak have traded (isn't Yang submissive to Zak - or is it vice-versa?)

I think it's the peacekeepers and the University that have a submissive thing going

I concur, we do not fall for Hive bluffs. And of course do not give them anything that could cause them to build any sort of military with decent weapons. Hive with good weapons and armour can be dangerous. What do they have? 20% more production than us? Not good.

And of course we continue using Invincible to map their territory. contact should come soon.
