  • The End?

Are we at the end of the game for us?

    Is it time to concede?

Should we go down to the bitter last breath?

Or, like a chess game when the end is unavoidable, do we walk away from the table?

    I welcome everyone else's thoughts.

    This is what I see:

    Spartans have:

MCC - Rapid ship movement 8 spaces for cruisers
Command Nexus - +2 Morale land forces
Spartan Morale bonus - +1 Morale
    Running Funde - + 1 Morale
Limitations removed on min and energy production on squares
The borehole cluster plus a lot of additional bases and squares to support a lot of units, even with running funde and their own support limitations

    And a fielded Air Force.

We cannot (unless the DA have it) the ability to get DAP until we steal it from Yang in 4 turns or we get lucky and get it from a rushed net node and artifact in 2 turns.

We have a nice cash flow but being so close to Spartan forces and their possesion of the MCC (making us even closer) I don't think it is enough.

    Do we keep on playing?

I'm thinking that, absent the establishment of a three way pact with the DA and Gaia, it may be futile.

    Please let me know.

    PS
Perhaps we can wait until we can rush the net node someplace where the artifact can reach it quickly and see if we can roll the dice and get DAP soon.

PM's sent to Gaia and DA

I sent the following PM to Geo and Chaos. I don't want to let them sit by on the sidelines while we are dissected. they are either fully with us, giving us a chance to live, or we are not going to help slow down the Spartans. Indeed if they are not fully with us then I am suggesting we will fall in with the Spartans and speed their demise.

    Dear Data Angels and Gaians:

As we informed you earlier, we are troubled to inform you that the Spartans have now fielded an air force. We can provide screenshoots of a B-6 Hardened Spartan Needlejet in flight.

The Corporation has been presented with couple of choices. One, immediate capitualtion to the Spartans. We can either become the Spartan Pet, or allow the Spartan forces to enter and occupy our bases on by one. Or, two, death within 4 turns. Most, if not all of our members can join the victorious Spartan empire.

    That can happen.

Instead of the above, we could continue to carry on the fight if we have the complete and total cooperation of the Gaians and DA. As I have been saying over the past few turns, perhaps, if we all enter into a three way Pact and coordinate our defensive and tech research we might be able to hold off the Spartan advance.

Without complete and total cooperation we might as well go over to the Spartans. The game won't turn out any differently, but at least it will end a little sooner and we'll have a little more fun (maybe they'll let us drive/fly a few of the planes).

Please let us know soon so we can make our decision.

    PS
Even with all of us cooperating together it is questionable whether any of us will live, but at least we can try.

Should I contact the Spartans and Discuss Terms?

I WILL NOT DO THIS UNTIL I GET OVERWHELMING CONSENSUS OF THE CORPORATION, but, should I contact the Junta and discuss terms?

There are a few possible reasons for doing so.

One, we might really want them.

Two, It might slow down their destruction of our empire (stall for time).

Three, we can better imply to the other factions that we are discussing terms of capitulation. This would, perhaps, make them more likely to fall into a 3 way Pact to oppose Sparta.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know the Corporations feelings.

      Mead

      PS
Drogue, it is not my place to request an extension, and it's well known that I have been a cause of a couple of extensions, but since this may potentially mean the end of the game for us as a faction, I would ask you to look favourably towards an extension should we need it.

I was going to announce my plans to not take part in long term planning, considering how the Spartans were handled and we did not try to come up with a joint plan, to see what could be, and THEN decide if to trust them or not. They were difficult negotiators, but honorable. I have realized in the last few days how much work this is. Sorry to be finicky, but this involvement is draining. I will help out in small, mindless amounts, but not like last time.

It's not whether we win or lose, its how we play the game which matters. I wanted an evil corporation and a powerful army to force commerce on planet.

Rather than 'give up', we should offer stock in our corporation for the other two factions. I think you're forgetting that yang will have an airforce soon...

My vote would clearly be - three-way pact with complete tech and map exchange and hold off Sparta as long as possible (= try to take them down with us). I guess they will at least have some fun with the Hive and with Gaia and the Angels, too.

If Sparta wants to talk, fine - but I won't contact them until they contact us. I'm neutral regarding Pet status vs. total destruction - I think it mainly will depend on whether we have a CEO ready for playing clerk.
(Maybe as a training camp for more junior members of the Corporation?)

I will play this turn as if I wouldn't know and the foil was moved last. (= tearing down roads, building defensive structures, ... as discussed in the other thread) - and I'll also ask Drogue for a 24 hour extension in the turn tracking thread.

He, just an evil thought occuring to me. Size 1 bases get destroyed when captured, right? So let's make as many bases as possible size 1.

Bitter end. As I said before: They may take our bases, but they'll never take our money!

i'm just wondering how they got DAP

                1. fundy, low cash
                2. they used a lot of money for the upgrades to destroy MI
                3. uni has not enugh cities to deliver the they, we would have known too
                4. yang hasn't DAP yet

so they didn't research themselves so they leapfrogged with the aid of a human opponent. That would be the DA isn't it?

I won't speak with the spartans, u can send your pm, but i thing DA will refuse

                  My guess is either:

Lots of bases with good min output = a few that can make net nodes to cash artifacts (+ a lot of territory to troll for artifacts and fast cruisers to pop sea pods)

They were researching it when the solar flare happened.

A 24 hour extension is granted. I thought about my previous rulings with regard to diplomacy, and it not being a reason for an extension, as only unplanned events are. However I would consider the size of Spartan forces to be a surprise that came with the turn, and considering the invasion I can see the need for extra time. While diplomacy isn't a valid reason on it's own, with these other circumstances, I believe a 24 hour extension is necessary.
