  • 2156 End Turn and 2157 Discussion

The turn is here. Please try out some diplomacy with Zak and Lal before I open it. Much appreciated.

    I tried:

First tried to contact Zak - He's ignoring us.

Then tried contacting Lal - I offered him our research for his research. He countered with non-lin math for 100 ec. I turned him down and he logged out. Then he ignored us.

Then I tried to contact Yang - He's ignoring us.

I guess someone should contact Lal and offer a treaty and see what happens.

My thoughts are that (in the real turn) we should contact Lal first, then get non lin math. We might then get a treaty and whatever else might come our way. Then we should try to contact Zak.

Neither of Lal and Zak wanted to talk to me at all directly after opening the turn and not moving any unit. This doesn't look like Lal would be too eager to do anything with us when we even get different results based on the different "random seed" on different computers.

Question is: Do we want Non-linear Math for 100ec (and presumably not more, that is, if we can get it at all) or shall we wait one more turn and see what happens then?

I say get it and then see if they want to treaty.

(If we do the trade they may then be willing to treaty.)

Hmmm, getting Nonlinear would delay DAP.

            OK,

I admit my ignorance on tech matters.

My main concern is that we need to start getting some friends along with the commerce income and potential future tech deals that they may offer.

Are you concerned that the Non lin possession would slow down our acquisition of HEC due to increased lab cost?

How much would it slow us down?

The current tech cost always stays the same, the new cost comes into play as soon as a new tech is researched. NLM wouldn't affect HEC but D:AP, which comes after HEC (hopefully...).

With Lal being as uncooperative as he seems now, I somehow doubt that there would be much interaction beyond NLM with him. (if AI asks Creds for tech, it isn't very willing to do much trade - besides, Lal is leader in Wealth if I'm not mistaken)

So... what are we going to do regarding the Spartans? We owe them 48 ec's... we could offer a treaty and 8 ec's, to resume the prior payment schedule, or we could give in to their demand for all 48 ec's up front. We have about twelve hours before we have to post the turn.

                  IMPORTANT:
We stole Nonlinear and Polymorphic Software from Zak. He declared Vendetta. He has three population and he wasn't talking to us anyway. However, somebody PLEASE re-check diplo with Lal. Now that we have Nonlinear, he might offer something else. Hopefully HEC! See the mid-turn save in the next post...

We got 25 ec's from a pod down south. We can steal something from Yang two turns from now. I designed some Impact units. I suggest building lots of supply crawlers, then cashing them in for impact infantry prototypes if we're invaded.

Got it!! Gifted Polymorphic Software, got Treaty with Lal! Then second contact, HEC against Maps (no other choice possible, did it reluctantly but anyway) and invested 100ec into Doc: Loy. Switched research to SotHB (towards Clean), SFF wasn't available unfortunately (shouldn't perhaps have done the deal with Doc: Loy but anyway).

Ok, I used that turn to finish out our business and post for the Spartans. Thanks, AndiD.

I don't have time for screenshots or other info right now. Unless someone else does it, it will be 12 hours.

We lost the two probes that stole Nonlinear and PolySoft. It's ok, we can make more. The Spartans stationed a probe team inside Zak's northern base, Climactic Research, but not Mendelev College. So that's where we stole those techs. I suggest we use the probes we're finishing soon, for Zak, instead of Yang as they were intended. The Spartans might strengthen Zak's probe defense quite a bit in the near future. If we can get SotHB (Yang doesn't have it), we might be able to switch to SFF.

I put 8 ec and a treaty in the diplo window for the Spartans, but did not pre-accept. This is basically useless, but it sort of shows that we're interested in a treaty, and this is our first offer. In effect, I turned down the 48 ec up front thing.

We have a bunch of ships now. Where should they all go?

The one in the SW is basically trying to find the Gaians or Angels.

I suppose the Hunter is more or less patrolling, but either it or the companion 'gator boat nearby could head southeast (if there's a sea passage) toward the other human team to the south east. Or, the other 'gator boat near our continent could join up and they could all three head for a spartan coastal city to try infiltrating.

The new ship out of Mussels needs a mission, ASAP, though. Explore? Pop pods? Patrol for Spartans?
