  • A Spartan Alliance

Rationale for a possible Morgan-Spartan alliance for world domination.

Right now the Spartans want us to research I.I. They currently possess the Command Nexus and the Maritime Control Center. I.I. would give them the Citizen's Defense Force and Nonlethal methods, giving the Federation more police power.

My idea of profiting from this setup will be using our powers commerce. A pact with the Federation (which we can delay on starting if need be) is a biggie. There are 2 commerce boosting techs in the immediate future (Planetary Economics and Ecological Economics). There is also the global trade pact which doubles commerce. In addition there is also the planetary governorship that will give +1 trade to every trade route we have.

Furthermore, we will use the Spartan military to make the 'friendly AIs' their *****es and thus gain their vote on the planetary council when it comes to passing measures (such as the global trade pact). There's our vote, the spartan vote and the 2 friendly AI votes. That's 4 votes of the 7. That will give us control of the planetary council.

The Spartans will conquer many cities. ICSing would generate lots of cities. When pacted, governor and global trade agreement, each of our cities will get +5 energy from trade. The Spartans might get +2 or +3.

We should have some energy rich cities (sea bases would be ideal for this. It is worth noting that it is possible to rapidly grow sea bases by using lots of nutrients 2 turns / 1 pop). These cities will recieve the trade routes of our 'friendly AIs' for lots of trade. We should build the energy multiplying facilities (net nodes, tree farms) in those bases.

I think it will be advisable to put some financing into the Federation to get/buy some of their army so we can get some of the spoils of war (WE want some of the conquered land) and have some influence on the 'friendly AIs'. I can see us financing the construction of bioenhancement centers & aerospace complexes a few spartan cities as part of a deal for us to buy some of their military units.

There are 3 tech routes to go:
    SFF, D: AP for planes
Neural grafting, bioengineering for clean (also bioenhancement centers)
I.I., P.E. for global trade pact, CDF and police

The Spartans will need CDF when Yang gets mad, which we don't know when it will be. It is worth noting Yang has a few ships, so we have to be careful with him. Also, police will be essential for the Spartans to build larger cities.

We don't need the global trade pact until we have the AIs made compliant.

Clean would definately be nice for us.

With SFF, the spartans will be more effective at conquest. With D: AP they can blitzkrieg the AIs.

Right now I am for an alliance with the Spartans, provided we can grow equally as fast (ICS can do this) and don't get ripped off

    Hm, our current situation:

    * We have no offensive military
    * We have only minimum defences on synth armor level
    * We are best off with peace because of our SE settings

    * The Spartans right now are friendly towards us
    * They have a huge offensive military
    * THey are well suited for war (SE choices)

Hmm... I think an alliance is the best we could hope for right now. However, since coop victory is turned off, we will need to prepare for a war against them.

I have updated the stuff there. If the Federation is occupied then we. If the law ship sails true we will have contact with the other human in about 5 turns.

We will go to war after almost everyone else has been nearly wiped out, which won't be for quite a while. By then we might have access to techs that offset our faction's weaknesses.

This only applies for us being pacted with Sparta. Also, if we were them, we´d try to not let the Morgans get to the point when they offset their weknesses

I'd like to see a pact, which would (hopefully) slow down the risks to the corporation, but we need to stay bigger than them. Also, as soon as we pact, we need to find a base we can infiltrate, so when they inevitably depact, we can still have infiltration. We cannot afford anyone else getting HSA in this case, since it's a bit of a gamble.

I vote yes. we need to weigh the fact that they will get our maps with the gains we will get from them however. They have to realize that time is on our side. Too bad there is no co-op victory enabled.

Also voted yes. Benefit will be enormous for both sides short-term (they need cash if they want to keep on building or researching with their army)... and both sides know well that long-term war is inevitable...

I think our biggest weakness is our difficulty in popbooming. Our second our pop limits. We have significant problems with war right now from our SE choices. We can always change them if need be.

If the Federation is occupied with a war with the Uni, and hopefully soon the PKs, then the Spartans will not be able to go after us in full force. (Assuming the Spartans don't have a big enough army for simultaneous wars.)

On a side note, right now we are the second most powerful faction - a natural rival of the first most powerful (yang). We are running demo (something Yang hates). Yang might turn out to be our biggest problem...

We're going to have to work out who gets which SPs with the Spartans.

I voted yes, as per my above post. We might be able to get yang to turn on the spartans, then pick off the victor.

Voted "yes" because if we break the alliance, we'll be their chief rival, and obvious target.

However, I don't want to give them too much money. Their strategy of contacting the AI's and fleecing them has gotten them far. We have to hope that benefit levels off. We may have to level it off by attacking Zak so they Spartans don't have a free tech machine.

What's stopping the Spartans from getting the Governorship themselves? If they enslave some AI's, they might have enough votes... they'd just need to pop-boom for a bit. That's expensive, though, with creches, police, formers and crawlers, which brings us back to my point of not giving them too much money.

I'm for it as well (oh and Hi their from the Abyss). The Spartans are the Tiger in this game and we are better off riding it then we are being stalked by it. More contact of human factions and work on the AI's is needed ofcorse were in the dark as to the other 2 teams.

This Modo Doctrine has made me vary wary of the Spartans. We don't want to ally any longet than we have to.
