  • Important - Contact with Spartans??

When I opened 2141, the diplomacy box for the Spartans was showing. It showed certain techs that we don't have. Does this mean we had contact and they were letting us know what they had to offer in trade? There was no text included in the diplo box. Why haven't we received any other message? Did they PM Chaunk? I don't see any units. This could be because we were infiltrated, but I thought it would say "informal truce" on the contact tab in that case.

Drogue, or other CMN, please confirm whether the appearance of the diplo box was a mistake, or if we have legitimate contact with the Spartans.

The techs listed will remain confidential until it's confirmed this was an attempt to initiate diplomacy.

Sometimes people try to say something by not saying anything. Personally I think that should be reserved for situations that don't confuse the status of the game itself. For example, if two people are at vendetta and "not talking", that doesn't apply to questions like, "Who has the turn?"

THIS IS A MISTAKE by the Spartan turnplayer. The Morgans and Spartans do NOT have contact. Please disregard the techs listed.

I received this message from Googlie of the Spartans:
We have met. Our gunfoil is in the bay by Vander Eudaimonics

I took the liberty of setting up an Embassy discussion room, which can be found at:

        The password is:

        sunburst

We look forward to meeting you there

Major Googlie, Recording Officer to the Junta
I guess they bumped into us for real as soon as I passed them the 2141 turn.

So do we HAVE or do we NOT have contact with the Spartans? I did open up the 2141 saved game briefly to look around. No, I moved no units. Yes, I quickly closed that contact box with Spartans that came up. I don't remember what came up. I could tell there were about -------- items. Also, another box had come up saying we had won, or lost (I don't remember which) 1 combat that turn. I do not recall seeing a gunship, but I was strapped for time.

If we have contact, there is much talking and planning to do! Especially since the Spartan's turn is right after ours.

Since we got an actual message from Googile, with an explanation of how we met, it's safe to say this is real contact, IMO. During our 2141 turn we did not have contact, but now on their 2141 turn and thereafter, we have contact.

              During Spartan turn 2141:
Once again, greetings from the Morganites. We'd like to offer a treaty, with an eye toward tech cooperation, and possibly other types of cooperation, as opportunities present themselves. If you're open to this treaty, we can begin discussing detailed possibilities.

Have you noticed, as we have, the evidence of Angel-Gaian cooperation? IMO this makes it imperative that the Morgans and Spartans cooperate to avoid being left behind. Although cooperative victory is off, early and effective cooperation can still be critical.

We look forward to your reply.
