  • Outsourcing pop booming?

As Morgan it is harder to pop boom our bases compared to the other factions. If we loaned a base to another faction, such as the Peacekeepers, for population booming, we can avoid our faction's inherent population booming limitations.

I don't know if this will be considered base trading, which is specifically prohibited by the rules. If any mods see this, an official ruling on this scheme would be nice. It might also be possible to sidestep building Hab Complexes and Habitation Domes this way, which is definately against the rules.

Ideally we would give the base from the computer and then get it back somehow. In our case, it would be by conquest, but when killing all the units in a base, its pop decreases by one. By conquering the base, the base's population is decreased by one more for a total population loss of 2, a bad thing. Ideally we would be able to retreve the base by less violent means...

I have successfully gifted a base to the AI, and then reconquered it. All the base needs is a children's creche, and a means of controling the drones. There are other problems (ensuring conquest, making sure the computer can control drones, making sure the base gets enough nutrients, costs requirements to make base trading work) which may render this scheme unpractical.

thats probably base trading. There are other ways of getting around the hab limit that are proscribed, so this will likely be against the rules as well.

I think that's a pretty definate no. Donating bases to the AI, whether with the intention of getting them back or not, is prohibited.

The rules specifically states there is no base trading with the computer. What about with a human player?

That's perfectly fine, with the exception that you may not trade your last base.

Does this mean we can gift a base to losing faction to prevent them from extinction?

I remember in the last ACDG we (the Hive and Drones) could not gift a base to the Pirates.

Is this a change of the rules from the last game?

It is not forbidden in the rules, and I have said that I am here to enforce those rules, therefore yes, I would let that go. I wasn't aware that was allowed last time.

In the last ACDG it wasn't mechanically possible in multiplayer to give another player a base. The Codicil CMN tool may enable it, though.

Well took a while to find Codicil, because I've been deleting games I haven't been playing, but still had a copy in my programming projects directory. Anyway it's backed away in one of my archives now.

My usual email still works (although really I've only been getting spam on that account for the last few months). If you guys need to use Codicil you can nudge me with an email. Another possibility is me giving a copy of the program to Drogue?

Drogue should just email me if he wants it.
