  • Yang's here.

    In the most recent post, our forces tried to enter the fungus square. It revealed the presence of a Hive unit adjacent to that fungus square.

    If we get peace with Yang, we might be able to get comm links of the other human factions. If we get in good with him, we can get trade and maybe get him into some wars

    We are going to have to give him techs if we want peace. Fortunately, we don't have IA to give Everyone will have cent: eco and prob ind. base (for armor), and in order to probe will need infonets & plan. nets. The only tech of those we don't have is ind eco. Yang won't benefit from FM.

    Fortunately, there is a chokepoint, namely the two entry points into our landmass. The fungus defense bonus, in addition to that of a sensor array, will give us +75% def when in the fungus. If we wanted a mighty def, we could build a base near the choke point, and give it a perimeter defense and com center. Plant a sensor nearby for a total of +125% def, no stacked damage and 1 turn healing of defenders. (the enemy will get +25% attack bonus against a base, so it might not be that much better.

    Fortunately, have a monolith nearby :> and entering fungus is only 1 turn if a friendly unit is already present.

    I'd pay Yang 1 or 2 of those techs, which will be useless to him if possible. Giving him techs means other factions can't give him those same techs when they meet. :> Paying the Yang will get us silence for those critical years of development, and hopefully make it impossible for another faction to bribe him, thus ensuring a weakened human faction

    When wealth halves positive combat bonuses, does it apply to ALL bonuses, or just those for morale?

    Do armored probe teams count as a combat unit? I think we should find out for sure.

    Wealth fortunately does not penalize probe teams, so a synth probe at the choke point would be strong. If we have a base down there, a Creche also negates penalties from Wealth for units in the base (according to the datalinks only-- I haven't verified this).

      It does infact work yoda. the morale boost is quite interesting, you can attack from the base square and still get the creche bonus from what i've seen.

        I believe only the Angels have Ind Base. But you're right, for Cent Eco, InfoNets and PlanNets, maybe we could give Yang one as a sign of good will.

          Actually fungus + Sensor gives 1.5*1.25 =1.875 = 87.5% bonus to defense. A base would be worse defense until it gets a perim defense.

            I always thought the combat modifying percentages were added together, and then their sum was multiplied.

              nope, just had an interesting occurance, a SAM X missile chopper just attacked a ground target, chopper is green, and attacking a ground target, and it showed a strength of 3.93:
              6 base
              -12.5% green ->5.25
              -50% ground strike -> 2.62
              +50% for nerve gas ->3.93

              I expected that Nerve gas and ground strike would cancel each other out, but they don't.
