  • Data Angel Offer

    Incoming message:

    To Gaian Union,

We would like to inform you that Morgan Industries started to build the Planetary Energy Grid. We cannot be sure, but it is likely we lost the race for this secret project.

We would like to propose you also a technology exchange in which we will transfer to Gaian Union two advances:
    - Progenitor Psych
    - Adaptive Economics
for a single technology from your faction:
    - Social Psych

We hope you will find this exchange beneficial to you. We very much appreciate our current relations and trust you have towards the Data Angels.
We also hope, this exchange will bring us closer to acquiring Ethical Calculus, which is presently the most important our scientific goal since we wish to fulfil our obligation to the Gaian Union as soon as it is possible.

Hmmm, we should discuss is the trade useful. It could further increase our tech cost, and it is prereq to technologies which will Morgan get before us. Opinions.

Sounds good.... Adaptive might be nice, although I've never been a big fan of Prog Pys. Not going to hurt us...

        I don't think so!

        What do we get?
        Nothing.

        What do we lose?
        Techspeed.

So, if they really want SocPsych, some other kind of deal should be arranged..

Illuminatus do you have something in mind?

No, and I don't believe we can get anything from them, except some EC loan. Someone ask them what are they researching.

            Benefits of Progenitor Psych:
            Aquafarms (useless)
Access to Field Modulation and 3r armor (a little helpful)

            Benefits of Adaptive Economics:
            +1 commerce rating (potentially helpful)
            Thermocline Transducer (useless)
Tiny chance of getting the Planetary Energy Grid
With Intellectual Integrity, access to Planetary Economics (helpful, but long-term)

            Misc other benefits/drawbacks:
We might be forced to take Prog Psych at some point later, such as when probing Yang or when popping sea pods. Getting it now would ensure we get something more useful then.
After finishing Ecological Engineering, our tech costs would jump. This is ~10 years off.
This would help the Angels get EthCalc.

On the whole, I don't really like the trade, but it's not awful.

Coop is disabled, but alliances could last until the end of the game... just not for the victor.

So we could trade Adapt Economics for SocPsych + some ECs..

PP is also good to ensure we will get sth new when probing Yang. Perhaps request some EC in addition to their proposal?

Yep, ECs are good and if they don't understand why, show them that the bonuses we recieve with such trade are quite small (from discussion above)

Maybe we can even arrange a deal where they give us Eth Calc afterwards..

I think we already have such a deal arranged, as a result of giving them Doc: Loyalty and Doc: Mobility. However, I don't keep close track of diplomacy.

Yeah, I also wondered, why that deal didn't go through..

Didn't the Spartans accept their side?

BT: Spartans were Spartans towards Angels too, and they accepted Flex for Loyalty - however, it seems we''ll get Calculus after all (look post above this).
