  • Base placement

It's time for more discussion on base placement!

We have 4 active colony pods, and 2 more coming soon. One belongs in the Ruins, on a particular tile, according to previous discussion. Some more belong in the Uranium Flats, but where? Any other places?

In addition to the 3 CPs visible, we have one at Fallow Time.

    Another by Ebbin Flow perhaps?

That's certainly a possibility, but which tile? The rolling/rainy/river tile is pretty good, and I'm reluctant to put a base on it.

The tile just west of it could be good, as it has sea access, but enemy ships will likely be spotted on the way in (provided we later found bases to the north of that bay and drop sensors/crawlers on the west). Of course, we could always raise bases away from the shore whenever we feel like it.

The mouth of the river is another possibility, though it's a bit far from the nearest base.

3 tiles northwest of Virgin Soil is also plausible.

We should also make sure there are clear fungal roads between bases. If rolling/rainy/river tile is too valuable, perhaps we should go for 3 tiles north of VS? Also, we should place as much CPs in Ruins as possible. Perhaps even one could have sentry in it's radius.

I was thinking three northwest of Virgin. Actually, I would like the tile to the southwest of that, with the fungus on it, but it would take too long to remove the fungus.

It probably would benefit us to expand northward. We could then probe Yang faster as we get closer. Ultimately we will want a forward base close to Yang to attack from.

I would like to see half of CPs going eastwards to Ruins. We can use one base in Ruins, one near VS and prehaps one more elsewhere.

I assume you mean "eastwards to the Urainium Flats"?

I noticed we have only one city on the coast. Are we intentionally avoiding coastal bases to avoid being infiltrated?

You must also notice that that city is connected to the sea by laguna, so it's easy to prevent probing.

There are multiple other lagunas also onm the W side of our continent - future coastal bases will be established by those lagunas, so we just have to place a unit by the entrance of laguna to prevent probing (and that unit is likely to be IoD)!

We should have one more coastal base in the laguna.
