  • Alliance with Angels against Spartans

    So!

    There we are:

    Facts:
1.Spartans "are reluctant" to trade some techs after we gave IA
    2.Spartans have some "embargo" projects
3.Angels are not quite warm, but fair ally
    4.Angels fear to be betrayed
5.Angels' beliefs (and maybe Constitution) prohiobit any restrictions of free flow of information
6.Gaians are democratical people,so free flow of info is important to us aswell
    7.Spartans prohibit free flow

    Solution:
We ally with Angels to push Spartans at least diplomatically, Morgan could be an option too as Spartan high regard for RP predicts their hateful relations with Morgan (aka Wealth vs Power ..which is basically the same )

    Plan:
1.we make a poll where Gaians vote if it's needed (did it)
2.We make a special anti-tech-embargo treaty (see draft) and negotiate on it (terms, conditions, penalties etc.)
3.We make a team which will work on it* and add a thread to the Gaian-Angel forums
4.Team maintains contact with DA to earn their trust and show respect - aka gather info..

*- I volunteer and will be quite thankful if Illuminatus and maybe some other Lord helped me

Draft (the treaty should contain following rules):
1.noone is to prohibit tech trade, penalties: ...blahblah
2.other trade embargos are allowed but with some limitations
3.signers cooperate to make it work*

    * - Signers should include Gaians&DA with future candidates being Morganites
We can call it "global tech trade pact" and make it appealing to all (maybe not so appealing to Spartans.. )

Please vote AND express opinion / give more ideas

    It's brainstorm here!

      EndGame already?
      Why?

The storming in the other thread has ended because reason was given why Spartans demanded our commlink

I think we should give in to Spartans NO MORE!!!

Now, we will make demands and hopefully from some help from other facs

I don't like Spartans or Angels. Angels, because they are annoying with their constant requests for incentives. So far, until the Ethical Calculus issue Spartans were quite easy to agree with, which cannot be said for Angels. Spartans are playing the game of good/bad cop I think, with Googlie pretending to be the good one, and Kassi the bad one. They will betray us if needed more than any other faction (I am sure), but I suppose we should decide with whom to go. 3 vs 1 will be hard to achieve, but grouping 2 vs 2 may be possible in future.

There are problems however: Angels will want to remain neutral and survive by probing and selling techs to others. Most of team players there have that personality, and it will be hard to persuade them otherwise. They also have no roleplay tendencies. It will be a hard task to persuade them that we are their friends. Spartans act nice in the begining to try to break up any alliances that already exist. It would be a difficult task.

Question is, do we want to be friends with Angels?

Generally no, but we need at least one ally (as you said 2vs2) and Angels seem to be the most promising after all (and most close to our RP); also I believe that with sufficient fairness and respect (earning their trust) we can become good friends..

If we have no friends at all, then we must subdue Hive - it's the only chance to survive then...

I suggest subduing the Hive regardless - leaving only buffer zones between other facs. That reminds me, we need a new poll...

It's too early to become hostile to the Spartans. At worst, we can cancel our treaty after the 8 years and more-or-less ignore their requests. Besides, what are we going to do to them if we declare war? We're both completely ineffective against each other militarily, with Yang so thoroughly in the way.

They've already become hostile to us, so I consider vendetta not a question - they will use us as far as we allow it and have something for them or declare vendetta if we decline to be used..
At least if we had some friends, they thought twice before making their decisions

I don't expect our allies to influence their decisions. As an opponent, it's their duty to use us as best they can. However, mutual benefit is possible some of the time, and that is when we can deal. They'd be foolish to hurt us at their expense. If they want to declare vendetta, let them. I doubt they will.
