  • Turn playing

I will be fiddling with my computer for at least some hours, and possibly some days. If the turn arrives, it might take me quite a while to notice and play it, so feel free to jump in. I'll post again once everything works again.

Generally being new, aren't the turns password protected? How would one play them then?
Arise ye starvelings from your slumbers; arise ye prisoners of want
The reason for revolt now thunders; and at last ends the age of "can't"
Away with all your superstitions -servile masses, arise, arise!
We'll change forthwith the old conditions And spurn the dust to win the prize

I am back too. (interesting fact, Poly suffered a breakdown while I was gone ) and I can act too if needed. BTW, should we somehow split the task, so that CT doesn't need to constantly haunt Poly? Nataliansmpf, password for our turn is Harmony

I've suggested that twice before Illuminatus, but with no response, which I took to mean 'Not a good idea'. There is some good reason to have a single person play the turns: Consistency. A turnplayer will do things predictably, making the job of analyzing and planning the turns that much easier. But, I think it would be good to have 2 people ready to play it if we are completely decided on a turn. I support the idea.

We've had remarkable speed, which puts the pressure squarely on the other, less decisive teams. Part of that is that the 4 of us that frequent the turn planning threads (Chaos, Net, Smack, Illuminatus) agree on most general strategy and are willing to compromise quickly on tactics. We need to be prepared for more dissent, which is quite welcome!

A side issue: We need to indicate in our turn-threads that we are agreed-enough and that the turn is ready to play. Sometimes we've had ambiguities left unanswered. I nominate you, as our leader, to just put a 'Ready to Play' stamp of approval on turn discussions.

What about a mass playing, then the player with the best result (voted on?) submits the turn as the official turn to be sent on....

Or there could be a lot of options in playing, the general course of action should be decided upon, and someone would offer a save? If there is only one candidate and deadline approaches, then it would be re-approved, then sent right away?

Could you read rules on the main forum please Natalina? This cannot work, since prescouting is strictly forbideen, and only issuing terraformin rules is allowed.

Smacksim I hate being called a leader . But this situation has occured couple of times, when it wasn't clear what is the consensus. We should check if it is agreed. And the really complex things are only coming.

I'm back, and my computer's much faster than ever! Though the proc speed is only 2x as high, with improved video capabilities, it seems to be running about 5x as fast on many things, including SMAX - the speed of all the menus surprised me, as it's something I would expect to happen at a constant speed. Silly me.

Perhaps we could encourage people to weigh their opinions more specifically ('I think we should consider plan X. In fact, I do not support plan Y at all', etc.) If there is real ambiguity or a draw of votes, PM the other players and give them 2 hours. If nothing, flip a coin. When I PM'd a few people, they did show up and give opinions.

Luckly CT is here, but I will try to get more people. I onece dragged up Laurentius when there was a threeway tie.
