I've been eyeing that godsend of a river just above Fallow Times. I feel like this is such a watershed event in Gaian's history that a fitting name should be found for it. So, let's have some fun and see if we can't come up with something really cool.

Agreed. It's a great relief to finally know where the much talked about....

Numbers 1-3 are rivers and we could actually name them in the game.
4 and 5 are two monoliths and we do not need to name them ingame.
6-12 are bonus resources and do not need to be named in the game.
13-15 are possible larger landamarks - bunch of barren wastes and two seas which we could name in game.

So - 1 is Ebbin Flow?
Rivers 2 and 3 need names - perhaps High Springs for river 2 or Fungal Flow for river 3 (it does mostly flow through fungus ).
Monolith 4 could be Sentinel ( ) and Monolith 5 Sentry.
16 for Great Fungal Wastes.
13 - Barren Lands
We could rename Ruins (22) to Ruins of Yesterday or Mysteriuos Ruins.

Naming some landmarks will make it easier to discuss plans: "Let's move that worm along the Fungal Flow to Dreams of Green", etc.. I'm all for it, but as yet have no opinions really. We could name the beach where our unity foil was found, and where our first MW was captured, etc...Aldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Join us for our first Succession Game

How about Unity Beach since we foumd a rover near by too. And of course, Ebbin Flow River by all means.

Hi all,
Here are some ideas:
1 – Virgin River (since the base Virgin Soil is at its headwaters)
2 – New Nile (or perhaps wait until a base is established?)
3 – Green River, or River of Dreams (since the base Dreams of Green is at its headwaters)
Uranium Flats – I dislike this name but can’t think of a better one now (working…)
22 - Monolith Ring (it’s obvious and descriptive)
Other names for features to be found later:
• Fungal Wall - for a deep field of fungus
• Fungal Highway – for a continuous line of fungus that forms a highway
• High Desert – high elevation desert
• Lee Desert - a desert on the east side of a mountain range (SMAC has all air patterns moving west to east, so the east side of all higher elevations/mountains will be dry to a desert – hence ‘Lee Desert’) [could also be Rain Shadow Desert (or the ominous Shadow Desert) – Lee and Rain Shadow are synonyms]

Whoa, that's a lot of landmarks! It's fun to make 'em, but hey, no need to name every rock and tree
It may be paranoid, but I wouldn't name any at sea b/c it gives approaching craft a clue as to who/what/where they are sailing. Our mighty Gaian Sailors know the seas well enough to navigate without sky-letters.
Hydro suggested Monolith Ring, which makes me think of OctavianX's avatar...how about XenoDoughnut?
Unity Beach is interesting. It makes it seem like that's also where we originally landed, hiking up the hill to plant our first bases, which makes a nice story and backdrop for why we are such great sailors.Aldebaran 2.1 for Smax is in Beta Testing. Join us for our first Succession Game
