  • Elections of 2102

After initial disorganisation following Planetfall, Lady Deidre issues a general call for elections! There are several positions that need to be filled. If there are more than one candidate, a poll shall be held to decide the winner.

    Explanation of each position:

turnplayer (plays the turn, posts midsaves, and makes annual reports)

backup turnplayer (just a person who does duties of turnplayer if he is currently unavailable)

academics (take attention of mod-3 rules, tech beelines and tech cost) - multiple people can apply for department

internal affairs (micromanagment, unit movement) -multiple people can apply for department

GAIA (intelligence - map analysis + testing things in turn simulator= - multiple people allowed

Election will be held each five game turns.
I will try to work out on some cool titles meanwhile.

Well, by default I'm a candidate for the turn player, seeing as how I'm filling the role now.

We will still need a replacement for you soon (you are going to be unavailable right? )

Only for the duration July 3 - July 11. After that I'll be around for a while. We'll probably have 1 turn, maybe 2, during that time.

Yeah, I'll put my name in for being that replacement, again. With the same warning that I might not be the best since I am doing heavy modifications to several installs of Smax at the moment. Chance of a mis-fire < 2% I think though. I'd have to really be trying to screw up to load our game into Aldebaran. Still, it's not a specialist job and I'd rather see someone with a 'clean machine' do it.

So if I don't do that, someone tell me where I'd be most useful. I wasn't in ACDG I, so I don't know the scope of things.

Looking at Set Four gives me an idea. Change 'Concilman of Finalization' to 'Chairman' or 'Presiding Concilman,' and then you can call the entire group of councilman the 'Executive Council of the Gaian Union.'

We need officers rather than just names! We need a poll, right now for turnplayer, and at least one other nomination. July 4th is today.

                        Newsflash!

After a continuous state of disarray and disorganisation following the Planetfall, including mostly failed elections of 2102, Lady Deirdre has decided to intervene, and manually setuped the government, suspending failing results of elections.
New government is called Senior Council of Lords, and is compromised from:
Lord of Development (appointed Chaos Theory)
                        Lord of Security (appointed Obstructor)
Lord of Progress (appointed Net Warrior)
Chairman of the Council of Lords (appointed Chaos Theory)
Deputy Chairman of the Council of Lords (appointed smacksim)
                        Lord Administrator (appointed Obstructor)*

This positions shall last for four turns, until next elections in four years, MY 2106.
*Lord Obstructor has gained the lifelong term of Lord Administrator

After being asked the question why did she do that, Lady Deirdre answered: "I couldn't stand watching the disarray that ruled in some parts of our society. This step shall finally bring order into Union. I hope the manual interventions into government shall not be needed soon, and they are clearly a temporary solution until society stabilizes." Following Deirdre's wishes, Lord Obstructor has started complete reorganisation of Gaian Union.

The Gaians, being a non-competitive and non-ambitious society, find it necessary to appoint their leaders to office. This is in keeping with the example first set in Plato's Republic. I humbly accept the office of Lord of Progress, and for the duration of my term, I pledge to carry out my responsibilites to the best of my ability.

I have to say I find the ostentatious titles rather odd for an egalitarian society.

Also, why so many? Some seem to be duplicative.

Even in egalitarian society, we need to know who is responsible for what. No positions would work in a telepathic or very small society. As for titles, every other factions has some, and this one are the best. And it is not so many if you consider our faction has 10 000 Gaians.
