  • Where is our science/research officer?

I just took a look at 2101b. I noticed that had we made our allocations 20% economy and 80% labs that we would have completed our research in 7 turns instead of, what, 14! This would cost us 1 EC per turn, reducing us to 0 EC's but it may have been well worth it. One of our strengths is efficience. For heaven sake let's not overlook our options, and at least discuss it.

Also, I think we've got to gamble a little and pop that pod next turn.

BTW, I also noticed the Volcano is 7 squares due north of Gaia's Landing.

PS: Are we allowed to use the "name landmark" feature for intelligence purposes when perusing the map?

You're not allowed to use the "name landmark" trick.

Elevation is allowed when dealing with black squares. You can figure stuff out like fungus in that nearby black square by looking at visiable squares.

I can't think of any other thing that is allowed with relation to figuring out what the black parts of the map are like.

Then you should have brought up moving the sliders. It's not something I usually think of. I'll be happy to do it on the next turn.

A few other things worth mentioning:

        1. If we research Information Networks 1st then Planetary Networks we'll be available next time. Then we could build a probe team very early and explore/infiltrate/steal steal steal.

        2. This will also keep us on a straight beeline to Industrial Automation, per Googlie's spreadsheet.

        3. Empathic Guild and Cloudbase Academy are disabled. Our AI opponents are Uni, Pk, and Hive.

PN also means planned. But you would need to have 40 ecs to switch. Although it may not be a big problem if you met a few mindworms.

EDIT: HongHu, this is kind of bordering carefull when giving general advices

            So we can research

            Information Networks
            Planetary Networks
            Industrial Base
            Industrial Economics
            Industrial Automation

according to mod 3? Then I'm all for Information Networks.

I know. I thought about it when I posted too. But those are all general principles that everybody knows.

Thanks obstructor. I will be more careful.

I hope others will weigh in on the tech beeline question.

                  Honghu,

The real problem is suggesting a path to take. In the last ACDG the main thing that the PEACE disliked about Googlie's comment was they suggested the actions which lead to the cycon being able to take advantage of the PEACE.

So it's not about giving strategy tips about how to play the game. Rather that's the lesser evil. The main evil we need to avoid is nudging factions towards certain choices by talking about certain things that may affect the decisions the different teams make.

I'd never listen to Hu anyways (you do know I'm kidding HongHu, from our lovely PM ramblings).

But there is always that feeling that someone that can peek into all the camps will not be able to help themselves with 'You might wanna watch out for....' thoughts, which lead to subtler intentions and even subtler posts. But it's suspect.

On the other hand, there is a level of experience on our team that isn't going to be making big choices all of the sudden because of new strategic information or rather, ideas. The ideas are mostly well known to us. I will be the first to raise my hand if I feel that any of you CMNs are guiding us too much with any smell of 'because I know what the other people are doing'. I don't fear that. So I welcome you to be Gaian as much as you want, if your own borders are clear.

Oops, sorry. Kody you are right. Anybody who know the real HongHu would know that she never really thinks before she opens her mouth. So please do not try to deduce anything from my dream talk because alas, I haven't even looked at anybody's map or anything like that and have no idea what beelines one should take versas the others.

So yes, I will try my best to keep my mouth shut in the department that I really know nothing about.
