    Morgan Industries Declares War!
Contact Lost with SCC Hunter; Mind Control Device Planted by Morganite Observer Suspected

    by Lieutenant Colonel Kassiopeia

The first hours of Mission Year 2154 rolled by uneventfully, save for a few riots in Arcadia University roused by elements of the UOP militia. Everything changed on the 2nd of January - a date which will live in infamy - at 0200 hours, as the commlink between the Maritime Control Centre and the scout vessel SCC Hunter, out on an exploration mission in the western seas, suddenly and inexplicably was terminated.

Later analysis of radio traffic and chatter has revealed the cause of this: the entire crew of the Hunter has apparently struck the colours of the ship and hoisted a Morganite flag. The only possible explanation for such behaviour is the employ of energy-demanding mind control technology, which is a common weapon in the arsenals of the elusive Probe Teams. A Morganite observer onboard the Hunter, identified only as "Mr. Moneypenny", is suspected of placing a mind control device on the ship.

The Federation was engaged in a Treaty of Friendship with that faction and, at the solicitation of both parties, was still in conversation with the Board of Executives working toward the maintenance of peace on Chiron.

While this loathable act of aggression in itself was casus belli enough for the Federation, Morgan Industries saw it fitting to continue on their path of aggression. After first thoroughly emptying and vacating their embassy in Sparta Command, their ambassador delivered by commlink to Major Kassiopeia, head of diplomacy, an official declaration of war. This was enough to allow us to surmise that indeed, the Morganites had in a most dishonourable manner robbed an entire sea-going vessel and the souls of its crew.

The entire crew is in our hearts and minds right now, as will their loved ones. Their fate is horrible beyond imagination: unwillful servitude under a self-appointed master. The Spartan technology division is trying to find a way to undo this deed when the time comes, but it is probable that the only chance of salvation for our brethren will be to perish in combat against their own brothers.

Morgan Industries shall never be forgiven for doing this despicable atrocity to the crew and those of us who remain. Never. The Spartan people have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our faction.

The excuse for war provided by the greedy Morganites is ridiculous at best: their claim is that the Hunter has violated the Modo Doctrine and thus the virginity of their shorelines. The hypocritical Morgan Industries never acknowledged the Modo Doctrine in the first place, and Hunter was sent into that area to negotiate a mutual ratification of the Doctrine. Morgan Industries is hereby declared guilty of the high crime of conducting an unjust war of aggression.

    University Government Capitulates
Democratic Elections Planned; Zakharov Found Innocent

    by Lieutenant Colonel Kassiopeia

The elements of the 1st Armoured Division, mainly consisting of the combat rover unit Shinsengumi under the command of SEF commander Major Kassiopeia, stormed the University citadel of Otkrietia-Discovery earlier this morning.

In a swift but deadly operation, this last stronghold of minority militia resistance was destroyed and the local civilian population liberated from under University yoke.

Soon after a garrison to provide civilian security had been established in the base, an envoy from the University of Planet arrived to the outskirts of the town, carrying a curiosity, a remnant of the Old Age back on Earth: a pure white flag.

Luckily the Major was familiar with this old custom, and the envoy was received peacefully. This proved a beneficial decision, as the envoy was a bearer of good news.

Down in Budushii Dvor, a stronghold that had yet eluded the steamrolling wrath of Operation Arcadia, the local population had rised in arms and overthrown the nominal University of Planet government. Its members had been arrested and imprisoned, and an envoy had been dispatched posthaste to Otkrietia-Discovery to relay the information to the Spartan Expedition Force.

After brief negotiations with the rest of the Junta, the Shinsengumi proceeded to Budushii Dvor, where they were received with open arms, as in so many bases before. Not a shot was fired as the city grounds were secured.

Then the spearhead team lead by the Major visited the prison where the former government had been detained. Meanwhile reports started to leak in of the proxies of said government being overthrown throughout the rest of UOP bases. By this time the Diplomatic Corps was given the order to prepare the needed documents for a total and complete University surrender.

These documents of surrender were signed by Provost Zakharov himself at 1400 hours today. He also plead innocent to the charges of atrocities leveled against him. A very brief and quick study of various logs, other evidence and eyewitness accounts corroborated his story, but what saved Zakharov from further unnecessary detainment was the discovery of what clearly was a Morganite mind control device, which had been used by a Morganite probe team to reduce Zakharov to a mere figurehead.

The members of said team formed the rest of the nefarious former government - the prisoners have been transported to Arcadia University, where they will stand trial in a court formed by Arcadians and University people. Further details and the complete nature of Morganite influence and wrongdoing in the University are withheld pending a thorough investigation, as is information regarding the connection to the Hunter incident.

The current plan of government for Arcadia is to have Arcadia and the reformed University coexist as a dual nation, with control of Arcadia handed over to the Spartan Federation as a token of appreciation and friendship and as a thanks for the work the Federation has done to further the cause of humanity in the area. Major Kassiopeia will continue in the office of Governor-General.

The University of Planet is slated to have democratic elections held within this Mission Year, and initial reports show the equally-liberated Provost being the top contender for the office of President.

unwillful servitude under a self-appointed master
Why is it ok for Spartans to destroy Morganite units, and illegal for Morganites to simply give a few poor navy guys a raise?

Ah, but you are paying the wrong guys. That was a hardened Spartan crew on the Hunter. My CRYPTEIA reports indicate that you are now crewing her with very green recruits - prolly vastly overpaid scions of Morgan Directors thinking it's a party boat

But I have every confidence that they'll learn fast

No atrocities, no lawsuits. I guess that means no lawsuits against the University. Hopefully, we will find poor and unfortunate inocent victims of cruel experiments for whom we can bring justice too.

Morgan Industries has yet to be seen commiting atrocities. Morgan has the highest paid lawyers on Planet, so lawsuits against them are futile in any event. :P

The Federation has yet to be seen committing atrocities either. (I'm sure some nerve gas pods can mysteriously appear in the hands of a few Spartan troops and be 'accidentally' used, then... LAWSUIT TIME!)

Yang whom is rumored to commit atrocities has nothing worth suing for. :P

Sigh, no one profitable for my associates sue... It could be for the best, I'm a busy person now.

I just cannot leave this as it is...

Actually, there was no employment of mind control probes. It has rather been a simple bribery...
The poor lower-class sailors, who just enlisted in the navy to be able to afford sending their poor parents a little christmas present from time to time, were more than happy to receive an indecently large sum of energy credits by a Morgan Company identified as "Li-Ping´s Seafood and Commando Operations Inc."...

Right now the entire crew is enjoying a two years holiday and sight-seeing tour in Morganic lands... Some of them already bought houses - better palaces - in the Central estates, the former navigator even purchased a ranch in the Northeastern Territories...

This is just to ensure you that all men and women of the crew are fine (and filthy rich)... Their families are invited to settle over as well...

I guess that's just bad propaganda. I don't believe that Morgan citizens could be so badly misinformed. Or could they?
