    /me shrugs

I remember reading a great story on the crew of a terraformer, their average day and how they operated. If I were writing a story on these little things, the idea is sound and good, I'd put it in AC Fiction, not the ACDG - in my opinion, the core of the story here should be about interfactional strife and moving armies and winning battles, because that is what this game is about the end of the day. But, the idea is sound for the early part of the game.

      To each his own.

In a way the inevitable and hard-wired conflict of the ACDG (I’ve made my opinions on directed research and other issues clear, and lost. **sigh**) is unfortunate since it puts the same straightjacket on all the factions. It is rather sad seeing Gaians being forced to act like Spartans or Morganites. It’s kind of like boiling your veggies until they are grey goo – tasteless and kind of unappealing.

I quite agree. I'm not too big on playing multi-player in strategy games like Civ2 any more either, because "there can only be one". I don't think war and global domination should be the only possible option in a strategy game of that magnitude. (In SP it isn't, of course - I win 99% of the time by transcendence.)

Of course, there is great variety in war as well, at least in SMAC, as long as you keep those damn choppers under control. The Gaians won't quite be forced to act like the Spartans, since the Gaians have a better chance of building up a horde of worms, et cetera. It is rather unfortunate that with the game being as old and dissected as SMAC is, there only are so and so many tactics that can give you a chance to win.

In Morgan society we subject people to Gaian broadcasts if we want to punish them, the room is more of a box though, so punishment sphere is a misnomer.

So you won't be building punishment spheres in captured Gaian bases, then?

What makes you think they will capture one?

Nothing makes me think they will, besides its possibility. We must not fool ourselves into thinking our opponents are weak, and must always account for the danger they pose. Losing a base at some point is a possibility we must account for. On the other hand, it seems Whoha has not accounted for the possibility the Morganites will capture one of our bases

Kody, do you have data on the # of posts and threads in each private forum?

Of course we won't need to build punishment boxes in captured Gaian bases. The Gaian people have long suffered at the hands of your anti-growth,anti-progress,anti-people stance, and will welcome us with open arms....

I'm afraid that due to certain concerns raised the number of posts and threads in each private forum is now considered information that cannot be released to other factions.

This restriction is taken seriously by Drogue and myself so such information will only be released at the descretion of each faction and not by Moderators or Narrators.

The Data Angels, as always, are a bit frisky in these areas..... Considering the amounts of "interogative" PM's we Gaians got in response for the previous postings of this nature, why we simply consider it a matter of conservance in that we the peoples of Planet do not waste unnecessary EC's and bandwidth transmitting redundant messages of this nature. For the most part we considered a majority of the transmissions inflamatory and misdirecting, and therefore we feel that the post count observations by CMN's to be misleading.

He meant that posting post count and thread information for each private forum could lead to some people unnecessarily feeling exultant and others unnecessarily feeling despondent and thus would likely cause actions that would harm the planet.
