Nothing short of locking down this entire forum will stop the spam.
It's a fact of life. Give it a thread to keep it contained and work around it.

Occasional off-topic thread can be allowed, but should be locked once it turns into a spam fest. When interested people gets whatever info there is to get, the thread should be allowed to drop. Just my 2 cents.
