While we're talking about turn send formats, jtsisyoda, I was wondering, could you please send zips with the save file directly in it, instead of in a IIRC Real_Game_Saves directory? Thanks!

Smacksim, could you sent the turn in this format in the future (the real save before compressing I mean) --> adcg3-angels-2129'
I have a problem with my WinZip, he appearantly can't extract filenames with spaces or comma's in it.

I think I had the same problem you have.
For a while, just after I joined the Hive in AVDGII I was unable to get to the saves because I could not extract the zip files because of filenames.
I got around this by renaming the downloaded turns to a simpler format (no spaces or other special characters) before I extracted it with my version of zip.

PS
By the way, I prefer to download the Saves in SAV (non-compressed) format. Although I only have a dial up (non high-speed) cable or DSL internet connection, I find that downloading the turns in SAV format to be very quick. I like it that you Angles usually post in SAV versus ZIP format. If others disagree please let me know.

Mead: thanks for the help, but I already tried renaming the downloaded zip folder prior to extracting it. Result was zip (quite punny )
I don't understand exactly if you want the save zipped or not. Can you phrase more clearly?
Personally, I prefer the SAV, unzipped format.
I cannot, however, speak for the Corporation on this matter. Although I often download the turn to see what's happening, I am not the turnplayer so I guess I have to ask in the internal Morgan forum how we prefer to receive the turn.
I will ask the Corpration to let you know how we prefer to receive the turn.
If, and when, I ever serve as turnplayer, I would prefer to receive the turn in non-compressed format. I do Not like Zip. These save files are not that big.

PS
I will download the turn you just posted to see what's happening, although I suspect that Jtisyoda will end up playing the turn (after, of course consulting the board members and shareholders).
if needed more description then it can be inserted AFTER the year:
acdg3-angels-2129-midsave.sav
Why?
Because this way turn saves of the same year stay together in listview control when it is sorted in usual alphabetical way. No spaces in filenames should solve problems maybe in some operating system. Filename standard should not be difficult, as mostly save file dialogs allow for importing a save file name from another file in the same directory - then just change of year number is needed. that's it.
About zip programs. I use currently one that opens like a directory window. I can just "drag and drop" the zipped file inside. It does not feel like it is zipped anymore. When I think of times when I was using arj under DOS and had to type in a command line that: arj -x -r -y c:/......../...../.....

Maniac, I don't actually know how to get this zip app to omit the folder. I just select "zip xyz.sav to xyz.zip" and it does its thing.
Weird. So this "Real_Game_Saves" folder is just created out of the blue, without the file being in a folder named like that before the zip operation?

No, it's in that folder. Whatever folder it's in before I zip it, that's what ends up in the zip file.
I think the program you are using might have options or settings screen where it is configured to make during creation of a zip file a directory including all zipped files from that directory. smth like "Include files in a current directory" or anything similar
