Chaunk - I never finished posting my Morgan PBEM anthology (Hydro hangs head in shame). I'll finish in the next day or two. Promise!!

I have to say that I did have a whole lot of fun playing Morgan. Having tons of energy (but not much else) by later early game was wild, and I did have to learn to play a very different style from a standard FM (as, say, Univ) or non FM (as Gaians, or Hive). In the mid game I had more energy than I knew what to do with, and came to fully appreciate the fact that commerce income is ADDED to your base energy and then MULTIPLIED by all your base enhancements. My coup was getting the Gaians to be my pact mate for 100 years or so, as I recall. Ah, that Dee...

Yes, I was going to ask about that one, but satisfied myself with reading your latest (Which seems to have Santiago being more evil than Yang )

And it is nice to have energy... lot of energy! Much better than only planet pearls which are nice, but only give e.c.'s not research or psych...

Chaunk – my Yang is more of the cerebral side shown in Datalinks, and a reflection of my chosen style for Yang as Hybrid/Builder. The Santiago went for pure momentum.

Personally, if find it kind of frightening how easy it is to be subsumed by the Good Of The Many message of The Hive. My Yang hasn’t had to use that to evil effect…yet. He is amoral, not immoral (and there is a difference).

Anyway, you’ll get a chance to see where my Morgan PBEM went. I used a lot of MetaGame strategies (per Vel) against the other human player (Santiago) and the AI (which can be challenging if no cheats are used). I must say that MetaGame is MUCH more fun when you are rolling in energy!

I have no idea how often I'll be able to get online, seeing as there's still troubles getting the net installed in my apartment, but since I seem to have net access again here at Uni, if there's still room, I'd like to sign up. As it stands though, even signed up, I'll probably end up more of an observer. After the trouncing of the PUT, and having seen in detail just what it was the Hive were doing there, it looks like I've still got a very long way to go.

Hi,

I just wanted to say hello. I'm playing SMAC for about one month now, just coming up to speed with lots of help from vel's guide. It's a shame I did not look out for such a great game five years earlier!

I just read the ACDG annoucement the other day and thought it would be a great idea of joining Morgan Industries as kind of "trainee" (or how you call it) to learn directly "hands on". Morgan is my favourite faction and I believe in the might of the economy. ;-)
