My Pending Departure from the Game

There is a very good chance I will soon be departing the ACDG for several months because of Real Life obligations.

I first learned of this about a week ago, but did not want to trouble the team until I was fairly certain.

I might still be able to participate if I can configure my Celeron, XP laptop to run SMAX and if I can get good internet connectivity over the next few months.

Both the above appear to be very questionable.

I was hoping the Drones would have posted their turn by now so I could have played it before I left, but I don't think they will post it in time.

I PM'd Hong Hu a few days ago to ask her to rejoin the Hive to take over turnplayer duties.

She replied should would try to rejoin the Hive.

I'll be around for the next couple of days, and perhaps will be able to check in from time to time over the next few months, but the Hive will need a new turnplayer. It is good that we had a few more talented and experienced players join us recently.

I hope to be at least able to see the save from the Drones before my departure, but as I mentioned earlier, we will need a new turnplayer.

I expect the game to be over by the time I return, but look forward to reading about the victory then.

We will miss you dearly, and you’ll always be a part of the Hive, we will warmly welcome you back when you do return. Even if you cannot contribute much do stop by just to check up on things if you can.

Don’t feel guilty, we all have real life commitments, in fact it is amazing how much effort some people put into this game given real life commitments.

If HongHu does not come back (which I dearly hope she will) I can do the turn given that I am not overly busy at this time (2 of my 4 papers are done, and I have another month before the others are due).

Alas - the terrible disease known as 'real life' strikes yet again - we must find a cure!

I too know the burden of other commitments, though mine involves an AP block class that I decided to take. My hope is that, after I've taken the AP test at the end of April, I'll have earned some college credit three years ahead of time, and I'll have gotten my hands on SMAX, along with more time to actually learn how to play the game, or at least I'll be able to devote more time to my beloved diplomatic and spam work in this game.

I hope all works out well for you in the future, Mead. We will all truly miss your excellent work and outstanding dedication.

I would do it if nobody else is going to take this responsibility. However I would need orders. Also I would appreciate somebody else take my position at CPC.
