Homeland Defense Report (based on M.Y. 2159)
This brief defense report deals with our homeland defensive status. Our newly conquered University settlements are not included. Also, please note that the evaluation is based on a near 'worst case' scenario.
Homeland maps access: Here
Our enemies may launch covert operations against us, invasion attempts and sabotage against our terraforming initiatives. Sadly, we are very vulnerable to both covert operations and invasion attempts!
Covert Operations Vulnerability:
Kommuniza City: High Risk; River provides direct access to datalinks, no probe defense.
Rokossovkygrad: Medium Risk; Road access currently blocked by supply crawler, relatively easy to gain access, 1 probe defender.
Dacopolis: Medium Risk, Direct access (coastal base), 1 probe defender.
Seat of Unity: High Risk, Direct access, no probe defense.
Jamski's Redemption: Very High Risk, Direct access, no probe defense, remote location and lack of reconnaissance priority!
Octavianburg: High Risk, Direct access (coastal base), no probe defense, located somewhat remote from the frontline.
HongHu KongHu: High Risk, Direct access (coastal base), no probe defense, located somewhat remote from the frontline.
Michanapolis: Medium Risk, Direct access, 1 probe defender.
Our probe defenses are almost non-existent. Provided very good reconnaissance this might be acceptable. However, our reconnaissance is seemingly very limited. We have no defenses against carefully planned surgical strikes, e.g. infiltration or technology stealing, etc. CyCon have very fast naval vessels and two cruiser class transports loaded with fast probe teams (and maybe 1-2 attack rovers) have free access to our datalinks! The listed bases are all coastal or near-coastal bases; however, our inland bases are very easy to reach using one or two medium-weapon rovers. This includes our headquarters, Voltariograd!
Overall Covert Operations Risk: High!
Defensive strength (invasion):
Unlike covert aggression invasion attempts or terror-missions (capture and obliterate) may be prevented by swift and flexible troops. Offensive reconnaissance and relocation of defensive units are viable defensive measures.
New Moscow has good defenses. Dacopolis has medium defenses. The rest of our eastern, northern and southeastern frontline is very pooly defended (1-2 Scout Patrols per base)--even Voltariograd is a possible target. CyCon needs only a small task force to be able to reach and capture our headquarters. Our southern border is not too exposed and the Free Drones guard our western border. Our eastern and northern borders are relatively poorly defended; compromising the safety of our core bases. Again, good reconnaissance is very important.
Overall Defensive Strength: Poor!
Reconnaissance:
We need excellent reconnaissance in order to sustain light defenses near our frontline borders. Especially the sea north of Dacopolis which isn't even explored yet! The fungal patches stretching from the New Sargasso (near Dacopolis) provides excellent 'hiding spots' for any CyCon task force. This is a high risk area! Currently, our southern border may require limited patrol aircraft as it is less vulnerable to CyCon aggression. Our eastern and northern borders and coastlines should be our first priority.
Overall Reconnaissance: Seemingly Feeble!
Better reconnaissance improves both probe defenses and invasion defenses considerably. Currently, we rely on an offensive defense (which may be the better choice). Our offensive capability is medium/high.
Please submit any comments, suggestions and feedback.
