A thousand and one day

There was this little town. The residences are all warm-hearted and kind. Everyday they came out to the street, chatted with each other, and exchanges hellos and smiles.

One day, an old man came. He started dancing on the street. When asked, he said: “Life is too beautiful. I will forever dance like this, for the rest of my life.”

Moved by the old man, all the little town residences started to dance with him. What a beautiful life it is. They all thought.

The next day, the old man came to the street and started dancing. Immediately everyone encircled him and started dancing exultantly.

The third day, the old man came to the street and started dancing. Everyone followed him automatically and started dancing.

The fourth day, the old man came to the street and started dancing. Most of all people surrounded him and started dancing. Somebody came out of his house and looked around. Seeing that nobody was around chatting or exchanging hellos with him, he also started dancing.

The fifth day, the old man came to the street and started dancing. Most people also started dancing. A couple people came out and saw that nobody was around chatting or exchanging hellos or smiles, so they danced a little, and then went back home.

The sixth day, the old man came to the street and started dancing. Some people also started dancing. Others went out to the street, wandered around a little, seeing nobody was around chatting or exchanging hellos or smiles, so they went home.

The seventh day, the old man came to the street and started dancing. A few people also started dancing with him. Some people went out to the street, wandered around a little, trying to chat with the people who were dancing. Getting no answer, they went back home.

The eighth day, the old man came to the street and started dancing. A couple of people also started dancing beside him. A couple people went out of their houses, took a look and went back home. Somebody came out and shouted to the old man, “Stop dancing!” And the old man continued dancing. So he danced a little too, and then he went home.

The ninth day, the old man came to the street and started dancing. Nobody came out any more, because they knew that they would not find anybody to chat, or exchange hellos.

The tenth day, the old man came to the street and started dancing. Some families started to move out of town. The place looked a little deserted.

The eleventh day, the old man came to the street and started dancing.

The twelfth day, the old man came to the street and started dancing.

The thirteenth day, the old man came to the street and started dancing.

The one thousandth day, the old man came to the street and started dancing. A girl went up to him, put her arms around his neck, and started slowly dancing with him. She asked, “Dear old man, what is it that makes you couldn’t stop dancing? What is it that you are waiting, for such a long time? Tell me, and I’ll do anything for you.” The old man slowly stopped dancing. He looked at the girl and said, “I’m waiting for somebody to share this beautiful life with me.”
