  • What do people think of War with the Drones?

I am in favour of going to war in the near future before they become a threat, I was wondering what everyone else thought (this is not designed to gain support, I just want to knwo what people think)

Lets not concern ourselves with war unless the threat appears more pronounced

Lets avoide war at all costs, even if we can fight a war effectively.

I think that the act of preparing for war will slow our growth down. After we have finished building bases and gotten flexibility and impact weapons then we can seriously consider war.

As for defence, I think that we shouldn't divert production away from colony pods and formers. That would cause us to lose the game at this stage of the game. I believe we can trust the pact at least until it draws close to the 40 year mark. Even if they did invade us now they would not be able to get a decisive victory. So I doubt they will try.

We currently have no chance of going to war against the drones atm. Not without sea transports.

I have been aggressively preplanning former moves such that every new city will have a sensor array underneath. The sensor array building and colony pod sites are being planned about 10 turns into the future. The hive is concentrating on maximising power now and in the future. Don't believe we're planning on being another faction's lap dog.

I would tend to agree with Kody, but we should try to keep our options open. We should keep in mind that the drones have their own reasons for not perma-pacting. We should try to keep our intentions hidden from the drones, though, whatever they might be.

War is inevitable. End of story. Whether it be with the drones, the looniversity, or some other threat we need to at least be able to present a defence. Terraforming is nice, but a farmer with a pitch fork can only do so much against impact infantry.

As for the immediate future, yes, I'd agree we are safe and that we should continue building peaceful units. This does need to change soon (ie 15-20 turns), so that we do have some type of advanced infantry floating around to deal with invaders.

War with the Drones? Surely you jest, Comrade! While I agree, we WILL fight a war (and win it). However, we have a permanent pact with our brother Drones. The Hive must never go back on it's word.

It's not a permanent pact yet.

They're still considering whether they wish to permanent pact with the hive.

I agree if the drones agree to a permanent pact then we should avoid war.

So there is general concensus that at the moment, we have to get more formers and bases, what seems to be controversial is if we should every consider going on the offensive if we could.

What is controversial is whether we decide this issue yet.

Alot can happen in the next 20 game turns.

I did exactly the same thing and probably annoyed Mongoose because of that. So you're not alone.

For a sucessfull war we need NOT to pact (as we don't want them to see what we are building) and so this should be decided pretty soon. It will take more than 20 turns to get an army together.

Good point, we woudl need ot break a pact before we do.

We might be lucky enough to be near Miriam, she would be a good scape goat.

Thoughit seems that we will wait till we get better tech before we build up.

I always love how people argue the decisions after the fact.
