well i am acting EAF so i wanted to start this thread....

techs they dont have and we do:
biogenetics
doc: mob
doc: ini
doc: flex

commlinks they dont have:
believering
datatechs
(so they have met PEACE)

known units:
1 scout patrol (70% damaged)

You really need to have someone specializing in covert intelligence - and make use of that in planning contacts/trades, etc..

From your 2141 start file (ie before you broke pact) you have access to the PEACE infiltration on other factions.

Thus, here is your information obtained from the PEACE Hive data (remember, it's commlink, right click on Voltaire, profile, drop down the screen to the PEACE icon, and voila:





From that you see that:

The Hive is pacted with the Drones

The Hive has 3 of the 4 techs you are discussing trading to the Drones (look to the bottom left box in the screenshot):
biogenetics
Doc mobility
doc flexibility

Obviously (?) the Drones have had the opportunity of aquiring these from the Hive, and have either not done so because:

- they don't need them and don't want to clutter up their current research rate

- they have no techs remaining to trade to the Hive

You know the latter isn't true, as the Drones start with Industrial Base, which you can see from that screen that the Hive do not have.

So you know that they are not just blindly trading techs, but have either witheld some, either for strategic reasons (but the Drones have built the Merchant Exchange, so that's unlikely), or for tactical reasons (co-ordinated research, perhaps - you'll also see that the Hive has Industrial Automation, so must have bypassed Ind Base thru tactical trading to get there)

This should make your contact offer much more meaningful, speaking as you are from a position of much more knowledge than you otherwise thought you had.

It seems we don't have much to trade to the Drones... I would be hesitant to give them HEC or Doc:Ini, our top military technologies.
We could always trade the commlink frequency of the Angels in exchange for that of the Hive though for starters.

Allow me to introduce myself; I am Prime Function Drogue Beta-8 of the Cybernetic Consciousness. Our recon rover has just met your scout, wandering westwards. I come to start diplomatic relations, if you are amenable.

Firstly, I propose a treaty between our two factions. This seems a logical choice, both for commerce and safety, but also for trade. The CyCon are also amenable if you would like to start tech trading. We have a few techs we believe you lack, and were wondering if you have some we may not? We have Biogenetics, Doc: Mobility and Doc: Flexibility to trade, that we believe you do not have. We also have the commlink for the Believers, that we are willing to trade for the Hive’s commlink? Would you be amenable to a world map exchange too? Just a few ideas.

Our External Affairs Function is DBTS at the moment, however he is not *very* active, therefore if you could CC communique's to me it would be appreciated. With whom should we contact on your side regarding diplomacy?
