Forgive my arrogence in posting this on the first day of my acceptance into the University, but the sooner the better.
Communications seem spotty, and the Hive is a huge threat as far as can be seen. An immediate meeting needs to take place by the Board Members and their underlings.
A schedule of faculty and internal turn deadlines needs set, as well as backups. Example: I recommend if at 14 hours after the turn is posted, if the scheduled faculty member hasn't posted a confirmation on the private messageboard his backup will play the turn. If, after 20 hours, the scheduled player is still absent from the board the backup player should send in his turn. If the scheduled player makes an apperance between the 14 and 20 hour window, the scheduled players turn should be sent.
I recommend irc, but any such thing will do. I place my recommendation for the next day or two.
A serious resource boost has to happen in the next few years, or we will be left hopelessly behind. As the Hive is being fed tech, probably for protection, we cannot rely entirely on our tech gap to save us from the inevitable attack.
The pirates will make invaluable allys, as they will be able to forewarn us of the incoming fleet, if we can trust in their communications. They could be easily bought off by the Hive unfortunately, as well as trading our research to the Angels (or whomever is supplying the Hive). They might not even know they are supplying the Hive if this train of thought is correct.
If we could stake out the strip of land around the North and South poles and convoy resources, this would give us a substantial boost with little risk. A few bases, maybe even one for each pole, would suffice.
I would also like to start a committe for researching and designing super-research facilities. I'd also like creating ravines for solar as well as nutrient resources by redirecting windfall patterns. I'm sure you are all aware of these tecniques.
I have some serious concerns about the haphazard planting of bases as well. If we are relying on convoys for resources, we can use the spiked wheel / hub layout for our society, giving us better defences all the way around our borders.
I look forwards to the information collaboration and meeting the rest of the University Faculty as soon as possable.
Feel free to send me a digital message.
