  • Official: National Fungus Park?

K, the discussion seemed over, so here's the poll:

Should we declare the area designated (in the picture below, enclosed in blue) as a "National Fungus Park"?

-"Yes, and let us not even move units through it."
    Fairly self explanatory, no?

-"Yes, and let us only move through it when necessary, not for mindworm hunting."
Presumably to stash our own worms here, or "to take pictures".

-"Yes, and let us hunt mindworms there."
For captured worms (not many in our current SE, mind you), unit experience, and planetpearls.

-"No, there is no need for such a declaration."
    Also self explanatory.

If an option gets 50%+1 of the vote, it wins. If no options get that majority, there will be a run-off between the two most popular options.

Yes, and we should regularly hunt mindworms there, for the money.

Oh come on. They're the hunters dream. A species that's both difficult to kill and impossible to render extinct. Planet can grow a few new ones by photosynthesis the next day or something. It's a fricking big plant.

Besides,s ome of us care rather more about improving conditions for our citizens than for the wellbeing of a few inconsequential predators.

If the mindworms are a danger to us, then will killing a few help us then? Its like drinking the sea. And if we want to join with Planet one day in trancendence, then we'd better start being nice to him/her/it now.

How exactly can one play nice with a life-form that exists for the sole purpose of killing us?

Haven't we already had this discussion? Out of curiosity, do you win most games by trancendance, diplomacy or millitary? I'm guessing the last, but many, like me, play SMAC with the aim of trancending. That is how the "story" of SMAC is written, after all, so being nice to Planet is a perfectly valid way of playing this game.

Actually, the most common way for me to win is by miltiary or diplomacy, but only because I usually give up on Transcendance games out of boredom. I geenrally try to transcend, and I do think that it si the ebst way to win, it's just that I consider it pointless to try to reason with something that wants to kill you.

I tend to attempt the Economic Victory if possible, without engaging in hostile military action (Where possible) to whittle down the number of bases I need to buy. It's a harder way to win, even if it's worth less points, so more bragging rights to those who can make it.

Yeah, like when they vote to join you because you gave them a technology they now won't ever get to use.

I suppose you could say that's supposed to be an RP then, but then, they can't RP either. Evidence? When they stay in Pact with you when they're the Gaians and you're a PK Lal running FM. (This is *happening* right now in the challenge game for me. Pacted her on the same turn I got the EG.)
