It’s time to fulfill an electoral promise, so I present TBHGTPFTT, or more specifically The Big Huge General Terraformation Poll For Term Three. (seven days, multichoice )

    Let’s explain:

    The Big Huge

This poll exists out of no less than four parts.
Part one, this one, about what to do with rainy terrain.
Part two, click here, about what to do with moisty tiles.
Part three, click here, about rocky terrain.
Part four, click here, about several matters such as arid & sea terrain, and fungus.

    General Terraformation Poll

I would like to draw your attention to the word “general”. I know of course the answer on the question “What to terraform?” is “It depends.”, but that information isn’t quite useful for running this directorate in a democratic way. What I ask you is what terraformation you would most likely use on what terrain under normal circumstances. When you answer this question, I won’t need to poll every terraforming action of every former this term. I’ll only need to poll about special squares, about base locations and where to focus our terraforming powers. Also the bureaucracy involved with this directorate will be reduced to a workable level, and I won’t need to resign out of desperation as Pandemoniak did.

    For Term Three

That’s right. I will use the results of this poll for the entire month. I’m sure you wouldn’t like to answer the same questions over and over every week.

Anyway, the questions of this part:

    1) What terraformation should we perform on flat&rainy terrain below 1000 metres?
    Farm&condenser
    Farm&collector
    Forest

    2) What terraformation should we perform on flat&rainy terrain above 1000 metres?
    Farm&condenser
    Farm&collector
    Forest

    3) What terraformation should we perform on rolling&rainy terrain below 1000 metres?
    Farm&condenser
    Farm&collector
    Farm&mine
    Forest

    4) What terraformation should we perform on rolling&rainy terrain above 1000 metres?
    Farm&condenser
    Farm&collector
    Farm&mine
    Forest

    5) And of course…
    Write-in
Just post any remarks in this thread.

Let's get the formers busy creating some very productive tiles for crawlers to work. Those farms and condensers are good for feeding 2 specialists!

Personally i prefer building bases there instead of Crawling in Resources. To crawl a BH how inefficent ..

Quite so - just on high food solo or high mineral solo. Crawlering food allows for growth and borehole exploitation!

exactly. lots of condensors, especially on flat squares

What's the point of planting condenser on rainy terrain, esp when we don't know how moist are tiles surrounding it?

Provides for 4 nuts instead of 3 w/ farm, and eventually 6 nuts instead of 4 with [the second-tier farm improvement that comes with Advanced Ecological Engineering] - rrrrr, need more coffee to remember simple names . Good point, though, we should prioritize their placement according to which will most effectively improve the usefulness of adjoining squares.

Why would we farm/condenser - flat/rainy below 1000 but we'd forest - rolling/rainy below 1000? sure the 2nd is just the 1st with 1 more mineral that would be wasted with a forest?
Or am i being really stupid?

the idea is to condense/farm/crawl the flat squares. if we did that on the rocky squares, we'd be wasting 1 mineral

TKG, agreed, but Drogue wrote about rolling, not rocky squares.

It's better to forest flat&rainy than rolling&rainy tile. You can also condense/farm the latter, and have additional one mineral.

IIRC, it's the presence of mine, not the actual rockiness, that decreases nuts by one.

I think that rolling&rainy tiles should almost never be forested, but rather farmed. On the other hand, flat&rainy should almost always be forested.

I guess the reason why there's a majority for foresting rolling&rainy and not for flat&rainy is because the votes for farming it are divided between condenser & collector. Probably few people selected both options.
