  • Unofficial: How many months do you expect/want this game to last?

I'm wondering how long people want to do over this democracy game. This way we could calculate how much turns we should play per month.

For demo game veterans present, how much does the turns/month slow down once the empire gets pretty large?

I entered 7 days as the poll limit, just to keep it legal.

Gosh, I don't know. If it goes on too long we'll all go insane.

I have absolutely no idea. I think its a good pace at the moment. If the number of citizens stays around the 20-30 mark it can sustain that sort of momentum. Obviously it will slow down as the empire grows. It also depends if we are lookng for a big score.

However if we get over xmas, I can't see the game lasting beyond end of May /early June.

As soon as victory looks assured what are the vets experience of what happens at that stage.

      Of course I'm guessing.

Simple: as long as it takes.

"As long as it takes" is indeed a good reason. I'm just worried about the current speed of the game. Currently we are playing between 5 and 10 turns (take 7.5) every Saturday. DBTS wants to play five every Wednesday. Say a term has 4 weeks. That means 50 turns per month. So I doubt this game will last another four months. Good? Bad?

hmmm, yeah sounds about right. besides, depending on how we plan to win, i doubt this game will go much past 2300. and if we want, we can start another one (isnt C2 into their second game now?)

Actually, this could turn out to be a really useful thread. I hadn't thought we'd end that soon.

The C2DG started their second game - and it was very nearly its death knell. It was only due to a dedicated group of 6-8 people that the game survived through the early phases, when not much wass going on, and it is now starting to improve.
The later in the game, the more exciting it is. (from experience with the other DGs

Perhaps we should be considering slowing down as we get further into the game, so we get a few more months out of it while it is more lively, and there is more going on.

if you slow down though, the game may die, people will get tired of waiting for polls, something to look at and drift away. The civ2 demo forum practically dies when the minister's don't poll right away or the delays a turn. Even waiting for the three days for polling can be quiet because everyone (read: the regulars) vote and post in the first day.

That's a good point, but at least, how about keeping it at the present pace, rather than speeding it up?

We're going at an alright speed, and it may prolong the game a little bit, without making it boring.
