  • Terraforming and Colonization's Agora

I wish to present my apologies for being so long to start this thread. I ve been wandering around before Planetfall, and according to the latest scans I received personnaly [OOC] IMHO[/OOC], it seems that we land on some kind of strange L-shaped continent. There seems to be an inside sea in it, and the chemical analysis that has been done before Unity Crash tends to say this sea is freshwater. I've been compulsing many geological datas, and according to my own calculations and conclusions, it sounds like we are on the western side of the land that separate that Freshwater sea and the larger sea northern of the L-Shaped Continent.
Some indications tend to say there is important mineral ressources to the east, while some rainy valleys have been spoted southwest, at the down of a river falling to the Freshwater to its western coast. It seems there is a small arid land to cross to reach this last valley. Unfortunately, both native fauna and flora could have provoked miscalculations. The northwest part seems rather to be arid and latests scans indicates intense native flora development.

    Please feedback this rapport.

north-west. there *may* be some rainy tiles there since the terrain is mountainous, and i know there are several rainy tiles to the north.

East. There, we can find a good site on the isthmus between the FW Sea and the main ocean.

As we have two colony pods, we could send them in different directions. My second choice is southwest, third is north/NW.

Either way, it's likely that we'll be the only faction with access to the isthmus for a loooong while.

For the first base, I suggest where we start.

For the second, I suggest going east, so both bases can share the (eventually) mined Mineral bonus, hopefully one using it at size 2 to finish off a Colony Pod while the other is still growing from size 1. When the size 2 base finishes its Colony Pod, the other hopefully can grow to size 2 and use the Minerals while the first base grows back to size 2.

The two bases will be fairly close, but the minor inefficiency later due to overlapping radii is a small price to pay for the mineral sharing, quick base building, and less energy Inefficiency (hopefully) early on.

EDIT: How did I do that, I put two Zs. I must be tired

First base were we've already started, the 2nd 2 tiles east along the diagonal, taking the isthmus. Further expansion after that should probably concentrate itself around the freshwater sea for now. To the north is heavy fungus, through which the CP's will not be able to progress through at any speed. I suggest we get Formers out there in our northen bases at reasonable speed, and have them plant forest next to those fungus tiles to hopefully start some chain reactions.

Our sensors seems to indicate that the rainy tiles are mostly western of that montain.

well, WEST. put a base in the mountainous terrain, then put one west of that, and keep going north. the pods from Base#1 can expand east.

first base one tile south-east and the second move it toward the rainy valley

Pandemoniak, I have a suggestion/request. As we have two pods, it might be better to post a multi-choice poll. Something like:

                    Where will our CPs go?

                    Stay put and found base
                    Pod 1 goes to: N, NE, E,...
                    Pod 2 goes to ...
Seventeen choices. People would be allowed to pick two of them.

A screenshot would help this thread a bit for new voters.

Maniac, I agree with you, I just forgot to tell my secretary to post a multiple vote. ( I forgot to click). Anyway, this is a consultation vote, so I'm more listening to people's arguments and ideas than to straight results.

To Ade, you right as well. Let me add it.

You missed my point : we have to CROSS these mountains to get to the rainy valleys.

                              Pandemoniak,
I suggest you upload the picture as an attachment, then it will automatically show at the bottom of your post. You'll get the little paper clip attachment icon, but the alternative is to find some webspace somewhere to hold it for you and link from there.

The image probably works for you, but that's because it's referencing a file in your Mes Documents folder. It's not actually stored anywhere on the net, however .
