he vel`s guide isnt sacred here you know. EVEN in Sun Tzu`s The art of war there somethings where other great military minds (including me ) do not agree with and i am sure Vel`s guide isnt nearly as good as The art of war

after automation. restriction lifting IMO should be the next goal, but that's a LONG time from now.

gene splicing is on the way to synthetic fossil fuels, an important goal for war (in case we need to boot someone off our continent )

Don't forget to stop long enough at Industrial Economics to go bother Kass about Free Market

Gene Splicing is very good for the nutrient restriction raising, but to me it is not as critical early on as the Automation line. I assume we all want to be expanding like crazy, which makes getting 2 nutrient tiles the only thing we need to worry about there. Besides, if we have a nice Rainy tile nearby, it seems we'd rather put off the Former for a bit later, so there's no reason to want to Farm it for 3 nuts (hey, IIRC, a condensor is allowed to break the nut restriction, so that's no consideration if we get the WP!).

I haven't played with crawlers for awhile (gets boring, and I had to stop my Tech Stagnation/Double Blind game because too many crawlers were slowing down my computer . OCC is the only time I use them anymore, but that doens't apply to what I'm about to say), but it seems to me that building a few of them at each base is the first real reason to stop massive colony pod production (exception being, of course, a base we want to build a secret project on, which should probably have stopped pod building earlier for Tanks, Comons, and the project itself). Then we can get towards Gene Splicing, and maybe have a nice little pop boom, though without crawlers I usually wait for Tree Farms.

gene splicing AFTER automation of course!
