Round the Planet Yacht Race: The Cuspidore's Cup

The Peace Pirates wish to announce the details of a Round the Planet yacht race - Cruiser Transport - 6 MP ( in the case of the Cycon, with MCC, a foil 4MP transport.

The idea would be for each faction to nominate a waypoint that each yacht must pass through. The passage to the waypoint must be accessible and egressable (to be able to leave it) at all times a yacht is in reachable distance.

The craft itself is inviolable (from Human factions) until the end of the race.

Each faction would offer what 125/250 ecs to the winning yacht. The Prize money.

The race to start in 2160 for those who wish to participate. This allows time for Doc: Ini to be acquired by all and to allow building and positioning.

The yacht is a transport (that is no attack capability but it can have defensive armament). Apart from that anything goes.

An idea is to have the waypoint identified by clues. Each Faction sets the clue to its waypoint. The answer to each clue must be published in the private forum so Googlie can confirm if the tendered solution is right or wrong. Alternatively the answer can be bought for 30/40 ecs after a few turns.

These are the initial thoughts on the idea.

Views welcome and of course an indication if you wish to sign up to the race.

As I understand it, inviolable means inviolable. Any faction that destroys another's yacht would be disqualified.

And transports must be empty? (no Trojan Horses loaded with probes or amphibious units?)

Well not a lot of interest in this idea for the moment. Better bring the Yacgt out of the water and give it a coat of varnish

I really like your idea, and it would surely be great fun... But it is hard for us landlubbers to afford a ship which couldn´t be used for in-game tasks.
Another thing is the prize money:
Not every faction runs a free market So it might be tricky to spend a rather big amount of ecs for roleplaying...

              And on a last note:
We all know that the pirates will win the race, since they are the biggest naval power on planet and possess the latest naval techs. No other faction would stand a chance in this competition, we could as well wire the ecs immediately to you

It´s like the Hive and Drones starting an industry competition: Whoever first finishes 10 [insert damn expensive unit here] at one base wins.

Actually, I'd say the CyCon have the advantage, however that's been squelched by unfair rules (why do we have to use foils, while everyone else gets top-of-the-line cruisers?). In any case, there has been little (read no) interest in this in the CyCon, so if it does go on, it will most likely be without us.

Actually, foils with the MCC behind them are as good as cruisers with any other faction, and a lot cheaper pre-fusion. (And the naval yard - +2 morale bonus - plus a bioenhancement lab - another +2 morale bonus - means that a CyCon ship would just need to survive 1 IoD attack to become elite, with another movement point bonus. Hard for any other faction to match. But that would mean trancing it, which would then make the cost about equal to a pre-fusion cruiser.

Why not modify the prize amount to 1EC.

The 'Bragging Rights' and the Sweet Taste of Victory should be enough.

                    P.S.

Although, I wonder whether some factions might use the race as a convenient way of obtaining a risk free, and easy, way of further enhancing their Intel on the world map. BTW haven't any of you folks got a satellite up yet?

Our satellite network is well established.

By the way, you have lint on your shoulder.

Well, this must mean that the ACDG is further along than I previously thought.

If you, I suspect the Hive by what I have heard of the game's progress so far, have got the ability to launch satellites the end should be near.

I wonder if the other factions can and will resort to atrocities to keep you from winning.

If the Hive is so far ahead, why have not the other factions teamed up to avoid the victory of the AC(DEMOCRACY)G going to the Hive?
