Would like to join a pbem game please. I have just the basic civ 6. Happy to buy some other items if need be or add mods thank you

You should check out Realms Beyond. They currently have two PBEM's running, with more likely to start soon! They use the "play your damn turn" client too. Haven't heard anything about a community here on Civfanatics, sadly, though you could try setting one up yourself of course.
