  • How to get ancient ruins to spawn on saved maps?

    Hello,
I haven’t really tried saving maps before, but there was one I wanted to replay with a different civilization. The problem is that ancient ruins don’t appear anywhere. After looking around, I saw mentions of a mod called “Random Goody Huts,” but I haven’t been able to find it.

I also tried installing a mod that increases the frequency of ruins, but it doesn’t seem to be working.

On most saved maps, ancient ruins don’t respawn because they’re generated at initial map creation, not when you reload with a different civ. If you want ruins again, you usually need to start a completely new map with the same settings and seed rather than using the saved one.

Interesting question. Ancient Ruins can be a bit tricky when working with saved or custom maps because map generation settings and game mechanics can affect where they appear. I think testing the same map with different settings is a good way to figure out whether the issue is related to the saved map itself or the game configuration. It would also be useful to know whether the map was created with the in-game World Builder or another tool. I enjoy reading discussions like this because they often contain practical solutions that are easy to miss in the standard game documentation. I also spend time researching different topics online and recently came across this FactsRead article: nancy guthrie reddit Hopefully, someone with experience editing Civilization V maps can provide a definitive solution here.

Thanks for the explanation. It makes sense that Ancient Ruins are tied to the original map generation rather than being recreated when a saved map is loaded. Starting a new map with the same settings can be a practical way to experiment with different outcomes. I also enjoy exploring practical guides and tutorials online, including this resource on image search techniques: image search techniques

I’ve run into something similar before. If the ruins aren’t showing up at all, I’d first check whether the map was generated with the same settings or whether another mod is overriding the goody hut settings. The increased-frequency mod may also need to be enabled before creating a new map, since it might not affect an already-generated one. Hopefully that helps narrow it down!
