  • Civilization 5 Strategy

I love games of enormous complexity. Any one can help me what are the guides and Strategies?

A good strategy is to befriend a nation for a long period of time. Then, they might ask you to declare war on a mutual rival. Tell them that is a great idea and that you will go to war with the rival in 10 turns. Prepare quickly, and hit the rival civ earlier than 10 turns if you notice they aren't suspecting it. This will impress your ally and win the war quickly.

Actually no, that will result in a massive penalty and denouncement from your ally, for you being a deadbeat douchebag loser 'warmongering menace to the world,' and you probably will never be able to trade or interact with them for the rest of the game. Your ally also will not join the war and will instead repeatedly pop up throughout the game and tell you to go away or they will taunt you a second time.

Just forget about logic and strategy. Civ 5

As said eventually everybody will hate you at hard.

But I can advise you a few things :
try to get all steam achievements starting with the different nations (so you all played them at least once to get a feeling for them) different map sizes, difficulty settings and so on, while it is fun to get those achievements it also gives you a feel of the game and makes you better feel what suits you.

For beginners what size of empire fits you, Few city's (3-5), a lot of city's (8+) or perhaps only one?
Big empires are near impossible to get cultural achievement with, and are hard to keep happy, but do great for your science and economy. While one city empires have the best aim at cultural they fall behind a bit in other terrains, medium size empires fall in between and are balanced in between.

Next what kind of victory suits you :
-Cultural? than you want one or a few city's and a civ and wonders matching that
-Science? than you want to have as many a population as possible, and have a civ and wonders matching that
-Diplomatic? than you want to have a strong economy to bribe the many city states on your maps , and need a healthy number of city's plus matching wonders and civ
-Dominance?, can be done with any sized civ, though you keep the capitols anyway so your empire will grow to multiple city's as your enemy's fall.
Best done by keeping only few from your own. to prevent those of your defeated enemy's push you over the edge, again pick a civ and wonders to match.

Than your map settings, what suits you, big, or small? lots of coasts and water or mostly inland? mountains or flat? forest or barren? pick your liking.

In general the strategy's you want to keep in mind :

-Take out any barbarian camps soon they will spew our units as long as they excist
-Don't plant to many city's to soon, wise picked locations prevail over number of city's.
-Plan your victory early both in your choicen civ your wonders and your social policy's.
-Don't attack city states, make them allies instead.
-Don't declare friendschip with other players, it will only boost your statue with them temporaryly but they will ask you for INSANE AMOUNDS of stuff for free and a refusal will hurt your standing with them permanent.
-Don't spam roads/railroads everywhere, they cost maintenance, but use as little of them as needed to connect your city's with eachother.
-Explore early and try to find and exploit a couple of ruins before other players do.
-Keep an eye for your happyness, keep it high.
