Honestly, Civ3 is looking better to me than Civ5.

I'll stick with civ 4 which I still play nightly. I just don't find enjoyment in civ 5. If the expansion ends up being awesome I'll pick it up for $30 but if it's more of the same I'll wait until it's on sale and then buy it.
Really, at this point I'm just concerned for a civ 6.

I used to wait for a huge discount before buying civs, but that stopped with 4. The previews and the first review convinced me that Civ 4 fixed all of the stuff that I did not like. And it did. V was also bought right away, as I loved Panzer General, but found combat in prior Civs to be annoying. Now, I love to march my units line abreast into enemy territory. So, despite not being able to play on the largest map (my dual core just takes too long in the late game turns - hmm the PC turns 5 in November - maybe I should get a new PC - nah, it still works), I will probably get it. See my question on Store vs Steam purchase.Quality is Job 1.01

Damn...
all the things I can read here on Apolyton about the additions the expansion provides,
make it truely hard to me, to resist the temptation to preorder the expansion now,
that it is available for 10% less on SteamTamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
Tamsin (Lost Girl): "He has fallen in battle and I must take him to the Einherjar in Valhalla"

I've owned every Civ game as well... but I'm going to wait for the reviews before I put my money down. Civ5 was a huge disappointment, and there are still many problems to fix.
And don't even talk about MP....Keep on Civin'

Nah. My PC can't run Civ5 itself as far as I know, and while I haven't heard anything totally facepalm about the expansion (like I heard about 5 itself, repeatedly), nothing sounds all that awesome.

I prefer 4 (or SMAC), but 5 has gotten a reputation that is undeserved. It is still the second best Civ ever, which is pretty damned good."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Once unit stacking is restored then there is no reason to nerf production values so players could actually see units getting built and stuff happening in the game without hitting "end turn" over and over for 30 turns. Plus once stacking is restored then multiplayer actually becomes fun and possible once again. Right now it would take half an hour for six players to each finish one turn by individually moving 50-100 units. That's both retarded and a game killing flaw so once group moves and stacking are restored maybe someone might actually be interested in playing online multiplayer again because right now the servers are a ghost town with no one even bothering to play.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

Canceled my preorder from Steam today and bought it from here instead:
Need a brandable domain for your business? Choose from 200,000 domain names in our brandable domain marketplace curated by naming experts.
Not only is the game downloading now (instead of 1-2 hours later) but it also cost me 10€ (~13 $) less than via SteamTamsin (Lost Girl): "I am the Harbinger of Death. I arrive on winds of blessed air. Air that you no longer deserve."
