You want a review? This game is barely a year old and Poly's forum on it is pretty close to dead except for posts by staff. The SMAC forum is livelier, and that's over ten years old now. There's your review.

I mean, I haven't played V since everything I read about it pre-release sounded horrible, but if you haven't tried a Civ since 2, check out 4 complete, it was like $10 last I checked. Fun times.

Civ V is still rough and needs a lot of polish. While it is a good game, it is not yet a great game. (Others will call it bad, but that's because Civ IV, in its final form after two expansions and many patches, set a very high bar.)

If you haven't played since Civ II, I would go with Civ IV complete, as suggested.

I mostly agree for SP mode. I'm not sure what they can even do to make it a playable MP game.

We still play a ton of Civ IV MP... and probably will unit Civ VI comes out with a workable MP version.
        Keep on Civin'

It's crap. Don't buy it. Anyone who says otherwise is wrong.

like boracks says the biggest problem whit civ V is that civ IV is a better game. but really not every game can be a master piece. civ V tried to change alot. imo it failed cus the ai was crap but thats beside the point. well what ever but i dont feel my 40 bucks was wasted. some new areas was explored. i still have hope.

Yes, the "improvements" to the game handicapped the AI even more. Much easier for a threatening AI to just put 300 units in a stack and go. 1upt with ranged units and flanking and ZOC, just makes a bad AI worse. Lack of roads made it worse for the AI also.
