  • Difficulty comp-leting Spaceship - program bug?

I am a solo player with experience dating back to Civ I. But limited with Civ V.
I recently won a "Science" victory, completing my spaceship successfully, but in a subsequent game I was having difficulty with /some/ of the spaceship "parts" refusing to be moved into my capital city. Some (not all) of the completed parts would move to the tile next to the capital, but could not be moved that last little bit!
Some of the parts "hung fire" like this at the edge of the capital for several turns, but then eventually moved in. However, the last component stayed outside the city over a considerable number of turns, refusing to move in, until in the end one of the AI players completed his strategy and won the game.
There was a minor update occurred between my successful, and the unsuccessful, game - so is this a new bug?

that´s weird - could it be that you had a component which was not yet installed, so you couldn´t move the other on top¿

I don't /think/ so. But I just might have missed that one!

Was there a Worker, Settler or a Great Person (General, Artist, Scientist, Engineer) in the city? I think you have to move them out to move the spaceship in.
Fool me once, shame on you.
Fool me twice, shame on me

That might be it! I can't now remember for certain, but I think there may have been a Great General there. I know I tried moving ordinary military units out of the capital - but that didn't fix it.

This is almost certainly your issue.

Maybe you have an old autosave to check with? The very few times I've gone for science victory, I had to move units out of the city before I could install the new components..

The fact that you would have to move a unit out of the city to move a spaceship part in is just bad programming or a poorly thought out idea
                Keep on Civin'
