  • Civ V not running properly

Hello all, first, here is a rundown of my system:
    i7 920 quad core @ 2.67 MHZ
    6GB RAM (DDR3)
    Windows 7 64 bit
    Safire ATI HD 5750 1 GB DDR5
    Monitor: Viewsonic VA2026w (native 16:10)
I have checked temps, CPU 60, GPU 62

Here is the problem. While paying the game, the screen goes blank while i can still here the music playing. Then of course the monitor says it is not connected. This occurs on any map type at random intervals during the game. It might fail 5 minutes into the game, or 20 minutes. and, it only occurs while running Directx 10/11. I have run it without errors in DirectX 9, but the problem there is that sometimes the game will not even start in directX 9. It might take like 1 time to work properly in 9 and other times after like 10 times.

I have posted this to 2K and opened a ticket but i have not gotten a response yet. So i thought i would put it up here and ask.

Just so you know, here is what i have done:
    1) I have used all of the AA settings and none have an affect
    2) Tried different resolutions native to the monitor (it should be noted, i tried the 1034x768 setting and it looked terrible so i do not know if it will crash in this setting or not)
    3) I have updated directx and all drivers
    4) I have used the launch control settings that say to set it to the monitor's native res upon startup

those are the major things i have done (basically the ones i can remember since i have been trying things for like a month now).

    any thoughts?

Get your money back if possible. I waited too long.

so, no one has faced this problem? Really? I opened a ticket with 2K 3 days ago and it still has not be assigned a tech yet....getting impatient........

Never heard of this particular problem before, I think.

Well, 2K still has not picked up the ticket. so, i did more on my own...I knocked down all of the video settings by one lever (high to medium) and have noticed that the GPU is not up at 99% all the time. and the game has not crashed. Si am going to go with this until 2K provides a real answer. My card is well within specs so it should work.......

this has happened once to me last time I played. the game also crashed when I swapped between strategic and regular view too fast (accidentally double-clicked). It is an error that occurs rarely for me (I assume, I hardly ever play).

I have a GeForce 8800 GTS on a 2,4 ghz dual core, with 4 RAM (yes yes, time for an upgrade)
