Forest chopping works only once?

Folks, apologies if I have missed something, but does chopping down trees local to a city building a wonder only work once? In my last game as Askia, that happened. Only the first clearing added anything, subsequent cleared tiles added nothing and were not acknowledged in the game log.

Remember those forests you chop have to be in your zone of influence for it to work.

Hi, they were all within one tile of my capital, when chopped, with the cultural border extending far beyond. I think it's strange that there is no mention at all in the log. I will try to recreate and let the group know.
