I took a couple weeks off and then started as if it was the brand new game, forgetting the horror of the last six months. If you're able to do that, the game is playable. Sure, it plays like it is the vanilla game and still needs a patch, but it isn't as bad as previous posts make it sound.

I tried the same thing... I took some time away from the game, and went back to a lot of Civ IV MP. And while the game does seem "improved", my experiences with Civ IV just keep reminding me how far Civ V still has to go before it's anywhere playable, let alone good.

And yes, the AI is still stupid, and diplomacy is still a joke.

I'm a pair of fresh eyes. The last time I played Civ it was Civ3 and I've been away from these forums for 8 or 9 years (I was quite surprised my account was still active when I finally remembered my password) I made a small mod for Civ3 that just changed a lot of the names which older posters might even remember (Ming, I swear you were there then...) Therefore, I don't have any experience of Civ4 at all. I'm just pleased I don't have to deal with AI ICS anymore although, somehow, maybe something's missing...? Too early to tell though. And I am going to have to mod those names again - Tarsus a Persian city? Tchah!
