    Now that I've played most of a game as a builder type (and suddenly being DOWed by two enemies at once), I really do miss the 'rush-build' feature of CIV games of yore.

    It s difficult to switch your focus quickly without cash-on-demand build boosts!

    That's why I always like to keep a hefty cash reserve: To purchase the units outright.

      well, slavery was kind of a gamebreaker in civ4. i don't think the AI ever got the proper hang of it. basically, it was overpowered.

      in civ5 i did discover you can alter the sequence of construction through the queue. as far as i can tell it doesn't even punish you for having one on hold for many turns, as in civ4.
      in other words you could have a city spew out a series of units every turn, when you do need it.
