  • Anyone try OCC yet?

It sure seems hard to get enough gold to pay for things in the late game. And with all games ending up with a superpower on each continent, it seems likely hard to survive once there are no other targets for the remaining superpower on your continent. Playing King level at the moment and did great until about 1800ad.

Any ideas from anyone else, other than find a gems start?

I'm still getting the courage up to do a OCC and trying to unlock accomplishments for other stuff first.

I did a Prince level OCC last week. I lost, but I was able to keep peace the whole game. Just make sure you keep up with trades to keep relations good. Be careful about pacts. Don't break your word or you're screwed.

Warlord as the Egyptians, I won a cultural victory. I might try again at Prince.
        John Brown did nothing wrong.

I get the feeling Alexander would be great for OCC thanks to his completely broken citystate bonus. Is that who people are playing as?
If there is no sound in space, how come you can hear the lasers?

I won the OCC on Prince as france. Was a random map ended up archipelago with Hiawatha on same island. He beat me to only other god spot on our island for a city so I just bunkered down and won a cultural victory. Keep trades open and any map type where you are isolated is ideal for this. I never met like 8 of the 15 cpu's on the map.

Some people are arguing SC are underpowered. You think it is overpowered?
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so
certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts.

City States can be nice buffers. If a neighboring one is invaded, I usually give it three or more units. And if the war drags out, I give it more. Once I had a city state defeat France. That was kind of fun...
Ok, France had pikemen and knights, and I gave the City State Riflemen... And this was not a OCC game.. so back to topic...

Speaking of France, with their early cultural bonus, they would be great for winning a cultural victory in OCC.

I won a culture victory. standard map, emperor diff, with Egypt. Unfortunately I was poor to buy off too many city states, I was allied only with 4-5. (in my previous game - also culture victory but no ooc i was allied with all of them (16) ). My ooc game was quite boring, I wasnt participated in any war, game was finished before 1900, Thebes was a pop 32 city with 20 wonders (including nationals).

How do you keep up technology wise in an OCC, with tech being so pop dependant?

                      Asmodean
Im not sure what Baruk Khazad is , but if they speak Judeo-Dwarvish, that would be "blessed are the dwarves" - lord of the mark

                        There are ways:
                        -research agreements
-using specialists, so getting great scienist often to get a tech with them
-being able to build all the national wonders easily makes the one city very good at research
                        - since research mostly pop dependent you can increase the population by policies and allying city states
-and with patrionage policies and allied city states one can get lots of research bonus

Sorry for the possibly obvious answer I am not seeing, but what does "OOC" stand for?
